Non-OS-dependent malware

Why are phishing and other social engineering techniques being confused with malware?

Because if the headline was "Phishing and 419 scams catch idiots on many OSes" neither of us would have read the article.

People who fall for these types of scams shouldn't be allowed to operate computers.
There should be IQ or gullability tests before you are allowed to use a PC.

Oh wait ... maybe getting scammed is part of the test. :p

Great - so I was duped into reading that rubbish thanks to social engineering.

What ever happened to accuracy in journalism?

Telkom is the biggest scam of them all :D hehe

The sad thing is there are people who are actually willing to destroy the lives of others by rendering them totally bankrupt and incapable of making their way in society.

The hearts and minds of the people who do this are so black and cold that they probably don't care what happens to others. And although they may be clever enough to scam and steal and rob they are certainly not nearly intelligent enough to realise what they are messing with.

This is why I classify these people into one catagory along with murderers and rapists and the like.

This might seem out of context here but its what was going through my mind whilst reading this article :D

Golden rule - if you are unsure about an email, call the bank directly. Best course of action, or go to the bank yourself.
