Noob question 1

I'm totally new to iPhone & iTunes, so please excuse the stupid questions...

Recently got 3GS and created account with SA iStore, but cannot find music to download/buy!?

Can you only do it on the US iStore?

Yup, music (nor may games - well the games category) is not in the SA store.

You can do it in any store, and actually buy stuff as long as you have a valid CC for that country. I use a friends CC for UK purchases and then just pay him back. Your SA card won't work for an overseas shop

You can however register accounts on overseas stores and download free content, apps etc

More than willing to pay for it, but then it should include music other than Jurie Els' top 10...

That's a pretty good friend... you are "lending" his CC details... .

You can also buy vouchers with your paypal account and redeem them in the US app store - works great!

Did follow those instructions, but after step 5 you have to enter an address (US one) and the system validates the state & postal codes.

Will check tonight if I can register with Paypal account. Seems as though it does not require the billing address then.

Sorry? Did I read correctly?
You think it's because of the music industry that iTunes hasn't opened a store in SA?
Very uneducated guess there. The truth is that the music industry would love for iTunes to come here and hav in fact approached Apple directly.
Apple has made it abundantly clear that South Africa isn't a large enough market for them to consider it just yet. I honestly hope they change their minds as I am one of the people who would love a store to open.

But this is a tad off topic, so I apologise...
