North West employs 36,000 ghosts

How hard can it be to trace where the money went ?

Surely this should be easy to get back.

prosecution could result in the loss of a potential 36 000 votes - and remember for the anc, anything, anything at all, to cling to power.

put it down to a lack of political will

That is truly petrifying.

So don't attack the ANC nor the people who stole this money from all of us.

No, rather bitch at a forumite who made a racist comment, diverting attention from the problem at hand

It's the South African trump card. If anything doesn't go right play /racism card

The problem then is that you group together the corrupt with those who aren't just on skin colour.

Racism like bigotry can never be justified. You to find ways to rise above it or you will get beaten with experience unless you are a seasoned racist then you should be okay.

Well they'd probably have to get R18billion back from BMW, KFC and SAB. No really...

Those illegal proceeds have been squandered.

We had a payroll guy slip a few ghosts into our system, took 2 years to figure it out and then only because we changed the clocking system.

We had a similar thing at my previous company. HR manager and FD were in kahoots. About 20 ghosts split among 2 departments. Was only discovered when the HR managers PA got fired for misconduct. She squealed on the HR Director (seems he was splitting his "winnings" with her to maintain her silence. He in-turn outed the FD. And for good measure the 2 managers of the departments affected also ended up getting the can because they had missed the ghosts on their white reports for a few years. And to add insult to injury - after the HR director left... some junior employees (janitorial staff) came out of the woodwork to add that they were promised their jobs on condition that they would pay the HR Director a "finders fee" in cash of R500 every month. Apparently negotiated during the interview process.

Welcome to Efrika !

EDIT: Nevermind, I see they mention R19 billion, so the average salary per employee is over R500 000! Even worse.

The interview I listened to the other day stated that the total salary bill for the NWest government is 19Billion, and not the bill for these 36 000 ghost employees.

So this money must have been paid into bank accounts. Trace and arrest them. Too easy, or am I missing something?

No if you tried really hard you'd realise that there is no justification for being racist. You are racist and you're trying to use this to justify your already entrenched notions. Corruption doesn't have a race and your argument is weak.

I beg to differ, this obviously wasn't just one or two employees who took a chance. To enroll 36k ghosts must have taken a coordinated effort to defraud the taxpayer, not to mention the managers etc. employed to ensure this doesn't happen that simply look the other way.

Despite your lofty objections this is exactly the same thing we've seen with armsgate, e-tolls, Nkandla etc. Almost everywhere from ministers to municipal managers since the ANC took over, truth be told, were it anything else it would have been called an epidemic.

I fully understand the racism thing, why it's hurtful and therefore bad, but you simply cannot bury your head in the sand anymore and say it isn't so, not if you're honest with yourself. The facts just doesn't support your view.

If that makes me racist then so be it, I honestly apologise 'cos I wish it wasn't so, but I think I can live with that better than continuing to perpetuate the lie.

HAHAHA. So you assume because I don't automatically jump on the bandwagon of ANC bashing that I don't despise them? Get over yourself.

Because you're using a colloquialism of the word bitch, let me direct you to this definition:

Bitch

(1) Word used to describe the act of whining excessively.

It's ironic, because I would classify "OMG the cANCer did it again!!1111!!!1" as bitching. As for diverting attention away from the problem at hand; what's bitching about the ANC going to do except whip the MyBB masses into a frenzy of "ZOMG THE ANC MUST PAY FOR THEIR SINS AGAINST HUMANITY!"? You're going to vent, and then what? Blood pressure increases, you get angry.

Observe:

Wow. Corruption knows no bounds.

Kill these ****ers.

Sorry, forgot to add. VIVA ANC, VIVA. You ****ing corrupt ****s.

Serious question. How realistic is a coup?

Quite right. My blood pressure is up.

I am absolutely tired of the way this country's wealth is being stolen by the ANC. I want to act and do something, but alas, I'm white and afrikaans, so I am automatically wrong. It's obviously my fault for not having taught the new regime how to run a country.

First question: How many people work in NW govt in total? for them not to notice 36k ghost ppl on the payroll?

And that's just one province.. would like to know how it looks when you add up Eastern Province, Kwazulu Natal etc..

Craziness!

What about clawbacks? Find the people operating the accounts that the salaries were paid into and make them pay it all back.

Lets see if the North west has the balls to prosecute any one or at least recover the money .
Some one must have registered these people on the systems .
This is potentially worse than the arms deal corruption .
The mind boggles . :wtf:
