I am absolutely tired of the way this country's wealth is being stolen by the ANC. I want to act and do something, but alas, I'm white and afrikaans, so I am automatically wrong. It's obviously my fault for not having taught the new regime how to run a country.

Checked the news yesterday. It appears some of these people are still working for the NW govt - I guess they are getting double salaries maybe? one for old post & another for the new (promoted) post?
That could explain why they were not initially flagged as ghost employees. The auditor probably just called a name & that real person came to verify themselves. And because audit is based on sampling, there was no way they could see this person is on 2 x different payrolls since only a selected sample is tested - not the entire organisation ie (no longer at public works, now at health???hmmmm! mind boggling!

Teachers had to recently go through a employment verification process to remove ghost employees. They need to do it very every single government employee in the country ASAP.

This is Limpopo two years - I wonder how many ghosts they ended up uncovering. But being Limpopo I am pretty sure those ghosts are simply returned to haunt the province.

The administration team in Limpopo says investigations to uncover ghost workers in the public service started in December last year.

In some departments, such as Education, Public Works, Treasury and Roads and Transport, the exercise is almost complete. The report is expected at the end of June this year.

Recently, Public Service and Administration Minister Lindiwe Sisulu revealed in parliament that the problem was rampant in Limpopo. More than 30 000 unfunded posts were found in the provincial Health Department alone.

It is suspected that the posts could have been used to steal millions of rands through ghost employees. Last month, police arrested six Education Department officials for allegedly creating ghost teachers and pocketing their salaries.
