Not just SA

So sue me. the grammer/spelling ninja threads is in the OT section.

The thread could have read.. "other countries are also now contemplating imposing caps."

Just as you say we are edgy, You yourself carefully choose the one article that mentioned the 5gig cap. While the others would of told the same story, but of course would also of pointed straight to the unfair caps we have to endure. Its easy to try get peoples backs up when you speak in half truths

Tell you what I will do in future. I will PM you for your advice on what subject to choose before posting to the forums and that will be the subject I will use. That way when you get your heckles up again I can say 'up yours'...

Half truths ... wtf is that? Are you for real or are you having a laugh?

Can't believe you getting this worked up. All I did was post a link. I made no reference nor comment. I can only assume that you have issues.

PS. I am only responding just to get my post count up - I really could not give a toss

You really do seem to have a problem as well. More than one person has already mentioned that you get defensive in your posts, and this is exactly what your doing now again. People mentioned the flaws in your logic and ideals and you start thowing things around. Sorry Mr TI Admin, great creator of all.. Please just ignore us ignorant nobodies floating around in cyber space.

PS: Yes I am having a good laugh at this

Hi All.

We should start mass action comrades. We all should come together decide not buy bandwidth for a month.Do you guys think the ISP community will take note?

They know we couldn't do that, Know for a fact that without it we would cripple our own business even more. You wouldn't even scratch the surface of their paint, never mind bothering to take notice

Maybe we should build our own undersea, state of the art, fiber cable to the US. Then we could surf for free.

I have a 5 man duck, anyone have some spare cable?

This is going slightly off topic but it's generally not the ISP community who we blame for the high price of bandwidth and low usage caps in South Africa; so effectively, we'd be hurting some good guys who either simply resell SAIX accounts or who buy bandwidth at a high cost price from SAIX.

A tactic like this would probably make a very small dent since the mybb population is really only a small percentage of the ADSL subscriber base :)

Whatever the reason for the OP - this should not be used to justify the excessively expensive, low-capped products telkom is selling to its customers.

Increase the caps as follows :

Home user : 10Gb
Small business : 50Gb
Large business 100Gb

and so on, lower the prices and we will talk again.

Expecting people to keep within the 3Gb constraint for a whole month just does not work.

Not true, if I never use the internet I manage to stay inside my 3GB cap.

*tries to remember when he last never used the internet for an entire month.

I do have a problem. Maybe a genius like yourself could work it out. If not, get a mirror.

What would you know about my 'logic and ideas'? Maybe it takes a special person like you to work that out - seeing as all I did was post a link.

Just listen to yourself... 'Mr TI Admin' ... 'great creator' ... you wonder why I get a bit defensive?

The reason that I am defensive is because I don't like 1diots trying to put words in my mouth. I especially don't like arrogant 4rsehole like you continuing to post garbage about me.

I know these forums are very 'anti telkom' and in most cases, with good enough reason. I also know that I am likely to have some of that frustration thrown my way and that's ok. But there are some people here take it to the point of idiocy and think that they can score social points by just bleating out any old rubbish regardless of any reasoning or the consequences.

I don't disagree with this. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about it.

You brought that on yourself by belittling others telling them how you created the system. You surely should of known it would be thrown back at you when you got defensive sooner or later. Just didn't think it would be me until you brought out the grammer/spelling ninja tactics

And if you go back and check.. I've even defended you in certain posts in other threads when you spoke with reason. This topic was old news.. and IMHO.. cant see any reason for it other than what it has now become. (No genius required, simple deduction from the 30 million other posts like this all over the net)

I'll ask one thing and ask you to answer honestly (If I may that is). When you posted this topic.. Did you sit back with a grin on your face and think to yourself.. "I wonder which of them will get their backs up first?

Read the thread about what I said wrt building the system. You will see that I am referring to whether something is working - or what should be happening as a result of the business rules that are given to me. This was in regard to when you are disconnected and was more to the point of connection resets. So get your facts right. It was not to try and belittle anyone, the comment was made to merely try and press the facts to correct the thumbsucked myths that were being dreamed up.

As to your question - simple answer - don't be so damn stupid. I have no intention of trying to upset people just for the fun of it - regardless of what you think.

I personally think that fixed line internet access here in SA is a sham. To me it is a disgrace that the mobile companies are able to get such a large market share of broadband access with their unbelievably high prices due to the unavailability of affordable, reliable fixed line access.
Telkom in my opinion should have followed BT's implementation of ADSL in the UK. Flood the market with ADSL access and reap the rewards in the long run. Mobile operators in the UK cannot compete with fixed line ADSL as a result and BT now have the subscriber base and the footprint to roll out 24Mb/s lines to residential customers.

rant over.

I don't believe that even though bonobo is an employee of Telkom, would stand up for their ridiculous rates and poor service.

If thats true.. the I give my apologies, But you make it hard to believe while you continually do it and then start with the name calling. It hardly does any justice to your intellegence

Especially when you are already a foot down working for Telkom.

BTW, what is the in house cafeteria like at Telkom? R50 for a mini sized Cafe Latte?

I am just tired of 'social points scorers' that think they can just give me sh1te purely because of where I work just so they can look good in front of their internet mates. They think that they know me and what I stand for. Truth is, you have no idea about me. You think that you can justify your uncalled for provocation by some seriously failed post cross referencing. But in reality all you are doing is winding me up further and wasting bandwidth. As for the name calling - I suppose I could have left that out, but I am Scottish...

Gambithunt: You have no idea the amount of fights I have with business management re what we offer. But remember Telkom Internet is an ISP and as a result has to use the same services and product offerings from SAIX that all the other SAIX ISPs and resellers are offered. My fight is with what SAIX currently offers. A previous colleague of mine referred to SAIX's products as a dog's dinner in the past and in my opinion, not a lot has changed since then...

Please do not get me started about the canteen here. We also suffer from 'lack of competition'
