Not just SA

Gambithunt: You have no idea the amount of fights I have with business management re what we offer. But remember Telkom Internet is an ISP and as a result has to use the same services and product offerings from SAIX that all the other SAIX ISPs and resellers are offered. My fight is with what SAIX currently offers. A previous colleague of mine referred to SAIX's products as a dog's dinner in the past and in my opinion, not a lot has changed since then...

Whilst I completely understand that TI and other SAIX based ISPs have to make use of the same products and services offered by SAIX, those who purchase larger quantities of bandwidth in bulk are offered discount rates and are able to purchase bandwidth at much cheaper rates than the smaller players in the market.

TI should therefore be able to offer the same products at much lower, competitive prices since they do purchase a pretty significant amount of bandwidth from SAIX in bulk. I'm sure you have a pretty good idea of how much bandwidth is purchased and consumed within the average month. I also assume that any spare capacity left over at month end effectively subsidises the re-purchase of wholesale bandwidth from SAIX, effectively reducing the cost even more.

TI management should pass these cost-savings onto their customers such as what Mweb is doing with the free local bandwidth after being capped. I know that local bandwidth does carry a marginal cost to it which is why Mweb would be stupid to make a loss by giving away free bandwidth. They're obviously subsidising the promotion through other means such as the reduced rates they get from SAIX for purchasing in bulk.

You think that you can justify your uncalled for provocation by some seriously failed post cross referencing. But in reality all you are doing is winding me up further and wasting bandwidth. As for the name calling - I suppose I could have left that out, but I am Scottish...
Aye.. and so am I.. also half Irish. However I only returned the "provocation" when you attacked me first, and Yes I did realise I was winding you up. But only when you stared calling others names first. The first mud slung on this thread in the form of a personal attack, was done by you when you called somebody else an 4rse

You cant expect a sheep to walk into a lions den and think it will be left alone.

But respect can be earned. Even if you dont care for the respect of the other posters here. By loosing your cool everytime somebody says something against TI (and its going to happen... A LOT ), your going to end up doing much worse than the good your seem intent on providing

I still can't understand some people trying to justify Telscums ridiculous caps and prices ..... boggles my mind

As an employee of the company who is imposing these caps on us your intention must be to justify them.

This was the most ridiculous comment that got me wound up ^^^

Well because it desputes your threads subject line..

We all agree that it is not only SA with caps, Certain universities overseas have been doing it for years.. but its is only SA with crappy caps

Again... at least do a little research... above is the provocation... I never said at any point that the caps were justified. I never at any point 'disputed my thread's subject line' - although I am not sure what the hell that was meant to mean. But anyway because I work for 'the enemy' I should bend over and take it... b0llocks to that.

Anyway - I shouldn't have said 'dont be an 4rse' I should have said 'don't be a baw bag' ...

$postcount++ ;

LOL there ya go again.. Name calling doesn't make it different if its another name

As much as there is a lot of BS that flies around on these forums there are also a lot of new people who dont always know everything and come here to learn.

Personally I felt this thread could give the impression to some newer (dare is say unknowledgeable) people, that the practice of capping was an acceptable practice world wide, Which it clearly isn't given the sites now springing up in the USA to stop this from happening.

The fact that it came from a telkom employee, made this seem to me (IMHO) to be more the case. Regardless though, even if it was a blue ribben bakers threads, I would of disputed the title thread and given my input stating that it still only SA that has the unfair caps we do (Which I believe you also agree with though)
