Not sleeping well - Suggestions?

I haven't been sleeping well for the last 3 weeks. All due to stress, I know this, but I'll be awake 5 or 6 times during the night, and exhausted in the morning. Removing the stress isn't an option quite yet, with a lot of things happening at the moment.

I'm not fond of going the prescrption/medication route to sort this out, but any suggestions on a more natural route to follow will be greatly appreciated. Going on the third week in a row now.

I've adjusted the times I got to bed, I am pretty active in any case, so getting plenty of exercise, tried adjusting my diet and times I eat, etc. Nothing. Still not sleeping through.

I have been through all kinds of Meds to sleep at night. I can't fall asleep. The only thing that gets me to sleep is Dormicum 15g. All those things like stillknox and so on didn't work.

Meds are not a bad thing. Get a set of 30 tablets and use it as required. No one is saying use it every night. I can go days without sleeping and then drop a dormicum. Man that thing knocks me out hard. I can't even remember what I did or how I got to bed :D

That is the reason I only use them when I really need a good nights sleep and get into bed 30 minutes after I took it. Takes about 45 - 1 hour to knock me the fark out.... HARD.

I know you are reluctant about the medication route, but consider taking 5mg of Diazepam an hour before bedtime. It is the weakest of the benzo group and has the least severe withdrawal symptoms, if any at all. Keep in mind that this is only a temporary solution.

Keep well hydrated. Water flushes out a lot of toxins that accumulate over time.

Try mental conditioning by recognising what your stressors are and anticipating that they will cause you some discomfort beforehand. This will lessen the effect of your anxiety because you are subconciously prepared for it.

The best advice I can give you is to cultivate a strong mental mindset and focus on a long-term goal and its rewards.

I work in the finance sector and work with numbers the whole day and peoples life savings. My problem is not the stress it's the damn numbers... My brain can't switch off at night. I can watch a movie and doze off. 5 minutes later I'm awake. When it's quiet my mind just races and there will be no sleep in sight.

That together with the IED condition makes for a pretty messy affair. Guess it depends on the type of stress and if you can switch your mind off into a state of rest.

Adcodol.

You're welcome.

Adcodol can be very habit forming. I try not to have it in the house anymore. I have come to realise that when I do have it in the house, I will take two when I get home ..... just for sommer to relax me a bit. Eventually it also starts causing headaches. Can also make you a bit constipated.

For sleep I take melatonin every night and for when I have real trouble that the melatonin is not working for, then I have Betasleep which seems to work nicely for me, though the next morning I feel rather groggy and k@k, which makes getting up in the week for work really painful.

30g of Ambien was what I got when I couldn't sleep.
Only used 1 or 2 so far. They hit hard. Got the dosage pushed up from 15g.

I had pretty good results with melotonin supplements.

A small dose just helped me establish good sleeping patterns without leaving me a zombie the next day.

@ Ockie: I know what you mean. I once was prescribed 40 x 2mg Clonazepam (Klonopin) for restless legs syndrome. I went overboard with them daily just cos they made me fee so euphoric. ( The restless legs syndrome is gone now luckily.)

Jirre, that is hectic. I though my 15g was heavy and I have been through a few meds. 30mg must be mind blowing :D. I would not even dare take 2 Dormicums. They give the Dormicum to patients going to into surgery and not even the 15mg.

That's insane dude :D

This is pretty much my problem, I think. Came off a couple of projects a while back, and I think it just messed up my sleep completely. Now that I've had some "down" time, I think I just have issues adjusting.

Perhaps will look at something to just get my sleep rhythm sorted and then take it from there.

I used to have problems sleeping at night. Now I enjoy a little herb and I sleep like a baby.
