I noticed that as well the other day. Transparent proxy perhaps?

You're getting confused between NAT'ing and HTTP Proxy Servers.

Still looks like NAT. If this is caused by any Proxy server, then it's Vodacom's doing.

The fact that my IP changes is confirmed by the web site above and when trying to download from Rapidshare (IP address 196........ is already downloading a file).

I'm not really complaining, as I can easily switch to "unrestricted", I was just under the impression that the IP on your PC will now be visible on the internet.

Its a transparent (or intercepting) proxy and every single ISP in ZA uses them... you not going to easily escape them. You are getting a public IP and everything other the http traffic will originate from the IP that you see on your machine's ipconfig.

I know all about this. After all we had to comply with certain regulations. But your statement above:

Again as Ambo explained there is a very strict process to follow. For sure there is no CONSTANT, UNHINDERED access. It's against the law.

My point was, even if there was constant, unhindered access, do you have any idea how much data flows across the network in a day. It's impossible to monitor and especially store it all.

What interests me is why would this be against the law ?
If you're refering to Lawful Interception, this is usually done on the SGSN and not on some other proxy.

Thanks ambo. Yes it probably is some transparent proxy.

My understanding of NAT is that my inside local address is changed to a new inside global adress. Whether this is done via a firewall, router or transparent proxy, in my view, is irrelevant. The process is still NAT.
 
@v3g, I've read a few posts over the last few days, where forumites indicate that 155 are still actively doing provisioning for the internetvpn APN, and just wondering why they're still doing this?
 
I know its been said that there should be no difference between using the internet APN and the internetvpn APN.

But i've recently started playing WoW, and we use Teamspeak to communicate. What i have found is that the Teamspeak Server is NOT accessible when i'm on the internet APN, but when i change the profile to the internetvpn APN it works like a charm.

Why is this?
