Unfortunately the first off the bat, itweb, didnt. http://www.itweb.co.za/sections/internet/2005/0511301034.asp?S=Telecoms&A=TEL&O=FPLEAD - the story was titled "Telkom tops ADSL trials". Hows that for accuracy?st3ve said:South Africa has some excellent journalists, they will do that for themselves.
All the other journo's who are reading this and thinking "Hey Bwana's right!" Here's my advice, "Go find another job you lazy sappers."
I know the FCC defined broadband as 200 kbps but that definition comes from report from January 1999!rpm said:Hi Bwana
We have tried in the past, but without success. Suggestion? 200 kbps?
Using this definition we dont yet have broadband in SA do we?“transmission capacity that is faster than primary rate Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) at 1.5 or 2.0 Megabits per second (Mbits)” - http://www.itu.int/osg/spu/publications/birthofbroadband/faq-en.html

imho the best which ICASA could do would be to permit the
unqualified term "broadband" as reference to a "speed" +192kbps.
It will be interesting to compare traditionally shaped/unshaped ADSL accounts with the new regulations in play.Hi Krycor
We are finalizing the details of the next testing...should run from 1 - 7September. Details to follow soon.
Guess my embarrassment when I realised that I'm slower than guys from India, Croatia, Finland, Romania, Zagreb?, Austria, etc. on another (international) forum:
