Competition means broadcast game has to change

For the first time, there is starting to be a really competitive market in television. Suddenly, we are seeing a real value being put on content and talent.
The SABC has been able until now to dictate terms to those who sold them any material, whether it was sport, drama or education.
Now it will either have to recognise and pay for that value, or it will continue to lose out to more agile and aggressive competitors.
You can be certain that, as in Murdoch’s England, neither television nor sport will be the same again.
But at the same time it's nothing new at the SABC.article said:The standoff claimed its first victim this week when radio presenter Robert Marawa was shown the door at Metro FM — which is owned by the SABC.
This was after he interviewed his boss at SuperSport, Imtiaz Patel, on the SABC-owned radio station.
Thats crap now ETV wont show their movies on a Saturday afternoon...
