Nqukula enjoys double security

What is it with the baboon and monkey labels? They are unnecessary and obviously used to provoke. You should be ashamed of yourselves, all of you.

Dogs. :D

Enough. I don't like getting into a cat fight with a hyena - just doesn't seem fair.

In South Africa legislation provides that the President, Deputy President and the Ministers of Safety and Security, Defence and Justice should be protected by the SAPS or more accurately the SAPS VIP Unit. Most of the Ministers in this country travel and move around without any security detail, even First Lady, Zanele Mbeki, goes shopping on her own with no security at all.

As far as the private security company, the SAPS members are there to protect the Minister or President, and not his household, and therefore any responsible person living in this country would protect their homes - and yes the Minister Nqakula has on numerous occassions admitted that crime is a major problem in the country.

xterminator : Please stop posting drivel, we all know EVERY minister has a security detail at all times, as evidenced by the large cavalcades of cars they drive around int.

If they're there to protect the minister or the president, then why are they 24x7 when he shouldn't be anywhere near his house during the hours of 8am to 5pm?

Ministers would often travel with personal assistants, advisors, stakeholders, sometimes even Directors - General travel in the cavalcade - some municipalities, if they know a Minister is travelling to a certain town or area - do provide traffic officials or metro police - but not all Ministers have SAPS VIP Protection

Bollocks. A lowly MEC was involved in a car crash only a few days ago. How many cars (and therefore personnel) were present in that incident? At least back up your drivel with fact.

And that shows that he had protection by the SAPS VIP Protection Unit - how ?

Would this be before he told the whingers to just leave the country?

Oh but seems he is part of the problem (and has little clue of right or wrong, or responsibility.)

The Nqakulas repaid Travelgate R300 000 February 15 2007
DA Chief Whip Douglas Gibson revealed to Parliament for the first time yesterday that Safety and Security Minister Charles Nqakula and his wife Home Affairs Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula had repaid more than R300 000 to Travelgate liquidators.

The problem with the story is that it is reported in such a way as if he went out of his way to hire this private security firm. I am guessing that it was a community decision.

You're all missing a verry obvious point here.
He does not pay for the security.

Cos .. it's a case of everybody in the community wanted the security, he dirrent, and then they organised it and he refused to pay.

Pfffffffft.

[edit - except for jongi]

stoke : thread kinda got derailed, and i'm probably gonna be doing so further.

Ok XT, if those cavalcades are not staffed by SAPS VIP personell, I want to know why they are not pulled over for violating the National Road Traffic Act?

So? He still enjoys protection far beyond that provided to the average citizen and then has the audacity to tell them to stop whinging etc.
