Number Porting

Ok guys so how many of you have ported I started 13 Nov Cell C to Virgin and I am still porting one week later :sick:
 
I ported from Voda to MTN. There was a few days delay with the paperwork initially, but they did the actual port in 1 day . All went without any major hiccups . Just make sure you actually have the NEW sim when they start porting as your OLD sim will stop working [that was the minor hiccup]...

An interesting feature i now notice , if you call my number from outside MTN you will hear a loud double beep right before it starts ringing. Supposedly it indicates you are dialling to a different network.

BUT dialling from Virgin gives a nasty female voice going "empty" right before the double beep. I wonder if Virgin isn't quite all set up ...

I'm also moving from CellC to Virgin ... porting was meant to happen yesterday for today (I think it actually went through last week thou) - but it seems it hasn't gone through

I'll check it all tomorrow and give them a call if there is a problem ... someone said hellopeter seems to work quite well ... so let's see...
 
I've tried - and I really wanted to give Virgin the benefit of the doubt but they're not even a shadow of the company they are over in the UK. Is it that hard to find competent staff?

I've had to fax the same form in 4 times to 4 different numbers and despite all assurances I'm still where I was last week.

I'm beginning to wonder if I really want my account to be managed by these people.
 
I found Virgin worse than useless when, looks like they haven't improved much. Took me 20 days from the time I ordered my access pack to the time I actually got it activated and working. And that included numerous emails, calls, messages on hellopeter.com etc.

Where you porting from? VC?
May I ask why Virgin?
 
Had them cancel my port. Going to wait until they hire some competent staff.
 
Just hope they're competent enough to cancel it and it doesn't mysteriously go through in a couple of weeks!
 
Can someone port from Telkom to Vodacom for example?

Its called MNP for a reason ;)

What I do hope is that we'll be able to port our landline numbers between telkom and neotel.
 
I know someone who's port was sort of successful from Cell C to Voda - but cannot receive calls from landline number.... any thoughts? Have logged faults with both networks.
 
No Porting Yes Big Costs

Found out today from Cell C after I did a no port to Virgin I must pay a porting fee of R1000.00 :mad:

So Cost Are R1000.00 to R1500.00 ....
