Nvidia will launch ray tracing on GTX GPUs

Doesn't make much difference. By the time AAA games all have incredible ray tracing we will be running much more powerful GPUs and the feature will be standard on Nvidia and AMD.

Will be nice to be able to have a play with the tech anyway.

Not planning on upgrading from my 1070 Ti any time soon.

Should last you a couple of years for sure. I'm still rocking my old 970 which isn't getting ray tracing support :p

Any GPU that doesn't get 60fps at 1080p with max settings is due for an upgrade. Currently the minimum is a 6GB GTX 1060 or 1660. The RX 580 is also acceptable.

I still get 60fps at 1080p without any issues in the games that I play (mostly Warframe).

Well it's a good time to upgrade anyway. Loads of high end GPUs going cheap as chips secondhand on Carbonite last I checked.

I'm waiting for Navi. It's a bad time to upgrade if you ask me - Nvidia charging sickening prices for RTX cards. 1060 isn't that much faster than my 970, 1070/1660 Ti isn't a big enough leap for the price.

The 1060 & 580/590 are not capable of running all games at 60fps 1080p max settings. There's no reason to upgrade them either as they still do 1080p just fine if you drop settings abit.

It's a great time to upgrade thanks to all the mining cards being flogged on marketplaces like Carbonite. The rush is largely over but there are still deals. Strix 1070's for R3.7k are an amazing deal and there were loads and loads of them the last few weeks.

What game can a 6GB 1060 not max out at 60fps at 1080p?

FC5, FC New Dawn, Witcher3, GTA5, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, Hitman 2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided are ones I have personal experience with, there are many more.

I got more than 60fps in FC5, New Dawn, Hitman 2 and GTA 5. Didn't have my 1060 when I played Witcher 3 but my 7990 managed fine.

Pretty sure the 1060 benchmarks above 60fps in game and hardware reviews, as I specifically look for it. Either you have the 3GB card or have a bottleneck somewhere. I have 16GB memory, i7-8700 and 1TB SSD.

I get 75-85fps on max setting on my 1060 6GB on Far Cry 5. GTA 5 also has a continuous 60-100fps on max settings with GTA 5.

Then you are not running at max with stuff like hairworks, max AA, advanced settings etc turned on. No it's a 6GB overclocked.

It you look on youtube with those games at max settings you will see 60fps cannot be maintained.

Definitely not max AA, but who needs AA set to max? Everything else is max though.

I have adaptive sync to 75fps as my screen is only 75Hz though.

I have a Strix OC edition though.

Run the FC5 benchmark and some gameplay in heavy areas and log it in msi afterburner, post log here.

Lol, gta5 you telling me you have x8 msaa & txaa enabled, under the advanced tab everything ticked and all sliders to the the right and you don't get fps below 60? You'd be lucky to hit 40.

Well in that case people must not claim they are running the game at max settings as it's simply not true.
