Nvidia

They'll do paper launch around xmas but you'll only be able to buy one next year.

Nope.
Prob in the first Q next year.

Yeah, around Q1 2010

I'd guess mass availability around April 2010.

I'm thinking earlier... but we can be almost certain that Nvidia is going to try there honest best to get to launch Fermi ASAP! They can't afford to just had over DX11 to AMD.

That's a dumb move.

Well, you telling us? AMD is really scoring big time, and come Christmas, people will want the most powerful option, so they'll go for AMD IF AMD sorts out that shortage issue.

As for the delays. I think it has something to do with TSMC. I read that TSMC are having issues with the 40nm chips (Nvidia and ATI/ADM). So this is why we are having AMD shortages, and Nvidia don't have any products in their hands (except for the odd demo models. but those were made before the issues with TSMC).

Also, the Nvidia Fermi's have 3billion transistors, that's outrageous! The chips architecture (the speculated architecture) looks so complicated, and so elaborate that it's no wonder why TSMC is having the odd issue. This makes me wonder how much those chips are gonna cost when it comes to release... I mean it's 512bit bus, DDR5, 3billion transistors, 40nm (a new for Nvidia), Nvidia's new MIMD (complicating architecture), balls, it just keeps going on and on...

Hmmm, Seems like AMD were either lucky with their release, or very clever... Nvidia is aiming way to high on this card... I don't know if they sh@t bricks with the ATI HD4xxx series, or they just wanna pull another Nvidia 8000 series on us, but what every they doing looks expensive as hell :(

Oh, and if you do get one of these Fermi's, don't be a selfish ass, you better use folding@home, and solve the meaning of life while not gaming :p

Well, mass availability in the US in February/March and mass availability here in about April is what I meant (I was assuming he'd like to know when he can go to a shop and buy one). Though hopefully we can get it earlier.

I mean it's 512bit bus

I believe this was changed to a 384-bit bus in the latest rumours.

ahhh... sorry, just assumed you meant that the official release date would be April... But my money (don't have much though) is on around mid March... Nvidia have to propagate all those chips, and make sure that they don't hit a sale peak, then run into shortages, which only shafts them over again. We will expect those cards early April if official release is mid March

Hmmm, that's good news actually... I'm not entirely sure wtf the chip would do with like 256GB/s (if ram speed is 1000mhz(4000mhz effective), and it's a 512bit bus).

Even if the card has a 1000mhz, and with the 384bit bus, it's still at 192GB/s... god that's a lot of data being tossed around!

To buy the HD5970 or the top of the line Fermi...

I'll wait and see who wins the performance crown :D

hmmm, fermi might even cost more by the looks of things... But the HD5870 beats the GTX295, but not much a large amount, and that's only got like 480 shaders (and the SLI takes away some of the advanatge). So I'm guess Fermi will dominate... but who's up for a R7000/R8000 card:rolleyes:

GOLLY thats allot of money! I shall wait till it drops...:D
