I'm probably going to regret this, but I actually feel that long-forgotten sense of optimism creeping up inside me. Granted, it might be bile, but I actually feel some hope as well.

Hopefully Nyanda will prove himself! I'll say this much... He couldn't do worse than Ivy... And if he succeeds in winning our hearts he'll definitely go into the history books as the gentleman who changed the economy, IT sector and possibly even the social awareness of the country forever! GO FOR IT!
 
the thing that might save us is that cheaper telecoms costs can lead to job creation. and JZ is in need of that.

so the current economic situation may force the ANC to stop seeing ADSL/telecoms as another rich tax. while good for us here, it actually benefits the country long-term.
 
So when will all of this happen? Why do they not unbundle the local loop then? The people own it not telkom, telkom stole it imo. Thx to the anc so the anc should take it back.
 
A complex challenge and I like what the new Minister is saying and more importantly what he's doing. I think we're in for good things. So who will be the DG? I expect this is the most important appointment the Minister has....
 
One thing they could legislate is that every new development, including residential, must include a telecoms trunking system along the lines of sewage and water. Once that is in place it would be much easier for fixed copper/fibre lines to be installed.
 
IBIWISI, I'm afraid. Our new govt is still flinging out one pretty promise after the next. I'd rather see some constructive action please
 
ya sure, and 2morro earth has been selected to be used as a football in the 2009 gods of gods football match, also just in now the ocean has turned solid, how can anyone take any of the posts on this forum seriously its all just rumour and the headlines are just made up rubbish

oh yay another new committee :rolleyes: -facepalm- You know i am beginning to wonder how many of these documents the DoC has vaulted somewhere because often the answer is quite clear and then the response is.. "I'll form a committee to look into the matter.."

ps. 3rd national operator due date has come an gone, same thing will cell operator btw, i read somewhere.

operator? Not like Neotel is doing a good job :(
 
we dont need a third operator...we need faster local fricken loop unfcking bundling.....the tax payer pair for infrastructure telkom claims as their own, we should not have to pay browny points to telkom for using it.

In that case could you articulate them for us in detail here? No speculation, no conjunction, straight facts backed up by figures.

It's one thing to "know" something, something else to make decisions and policies based upon what you "know".
