Hey guys,

I just got my fibre installed by Fibrehoods (100/50mbps) line, and went with a Vox capped package. At the moment, at best I'm getting 40mbps on my NZBs. Other downloads are usually around line capacity (92-93mbps). Does Vox throttle NZB downloads?

Not if you use encryption.

Okay, then maybe it's not throttling. Even with SSL enabled, throughput is about the same. Different usenet providers don't make a difference, either.

Have tried various numbers of threads, ranging from 4 up to 20. Best speeds on 20.

Are you using SABNZBD? If so you will need to use NZBget for better speeds.

Depends on a lot of things.

If it's hard locked at 40MB then does your Usenet provider allow you to download at 100MB? Some of them are capped at that speed (i.e. UseNetBucket unless you buy the Ultimate bucket). What are you using to download? If it's a NAS device, does it have enough horse power to write and manage all the connections?

It could also be Fibrehoods throttling you down.

@ Syphonx - tried NZBget, same deal with that.

@ whatwhat - using Usenetserver, on the high speed+ package. Shouldn't be limited. Downloading to a local hard drive with 70mb/s write capability, so that shouldn't be the bottleneck. I really am rather puzzled.

Would suggest seeing if you can try another usenet provider to test. It might that your current one just cannot give you the full 100MB experience.

I personally use usenetbucket and astraweb unlimited. Just google for coupon codes for astraweb and you can get the unlimited for around $8 a month if you do decide to sign up. There is no need to pay $15 a month for that.
