Oasis water after-taste

I’m forced to drink Oasis water for the next three months at least (even brush my teeth with).

Although, for the pas two days (first time I drink) I find it having a horrendous aftertaste (it’s not chlorine, just weird and stays on the tongue) that I’ve been forced to switch from to Powerade (another few of the authorized drinks).

Is is the aftertaste normal/common/dépends of the batch?

Anybody knows why doctor want you to be specifically using Oasis and not other prepared water brands (that might taste better)?

I would say no. They take normal municipal water and process it. So maybe there is a chance that it can taste different depending on location.

I've tried other water companies and they all taste like chlorine. Oasis is perfect.
 
Will try to get it from different shop. I definitely can’t drink Powerade 24/7.

Oasis afaik is just R/O tap water.

I can see a doc prescribing bottled water MAYBE in limited circumstances with some wild imagination, but requiring a specific brand seems decidedly unscientific to me. Might just be a case of him thinking Oasis will be the cheapest?

If you need to throw something in it to alter the taste try getting rehydrant from a pharmacy & just make it much more diluted as per label. Else bit of lemon. Or get a sodastream and gas it. edit: I know docs that don't approve of the sodastream plan

I'd start by asking the doc what the aim of the game is though

It’s after a stem cell transplant, so the aim is not getting bacteria as I won’t have any immune system at the start and apparently, only Oasis/boiled water/Powerade/Gatorade. Sodastream is a big no as the inside of the machine could have bacteria (not even allowed sodas). Lemon (or fruits) not allowed for a month either.

Thinking to try another batch of Oasis, I don’t have a kettle on hand at hospital but will switch to boiled water if the after taste remains.

Apparently other bottled water are not fine for some reason. Might be something to do with quality control being more stringent there.

If I start being conspirationist, it could be the Afrikaner connection too, the doctor and hospital being super Afrikaner and Oasis being one of the only Afrikaner water brand.

Maybe it is the meds you have that alters the taste. When my wife is on treatment (strong antibiotics) she says everything taste different and has an after taste for a couple days after treatment. But then it is fine again.

Oasis is great. Maybe your palette isn't used to pure water :P

Anyway, I get mine from the shop in Bryanston.

I’m only on cortisone and anti nausea which I’ve have been on for 9 months at the same dosis while Bonaqua, Valpre and tap water were tasting fine until Monday.

The bottles are actually having a smell, which I’ve never noticed with any other water.

I just think there’s either something I don’t like in Oasis’ taste (never had it before so I can’t compare), or I had a terrible batch, or it’s a terrible water.

Try from another Oasis. If it's still yucky. I would say your body doesn't like it. It's too full of crap.

This. Medication can change your perception of taste so should be considered as a factor too. Good luck on the road to recovery
 
Medication plays a big factor in how things taste, last year I was on some pretty hectic stuff and everything tasted awful.
 
Good luck with your treatment, recently found out I'm scheduled for one of those too (stem cell transplant), currently having my brothers tested for donor suitability. Granted mine is still a few months away, but I had no idea about the sticking to one brand of water thing..

Also Afrikaner water, whowuddathunk..

Can't you buy some of those "water enchancer" drops to break the flavour a bit?

Thanks, all bottler water in the world is halal except if bacon bits are thrown in it (which remains to be heard of).

When I say halal I mean paying certification fees (in case you didn’t notice after 637 pages, this was my point of contention).
