The last time I voted ANC was in 1994 and yes, that was the last time I was as excited and hopeful for a better world.

It's almost like we have our very own Kalifornia right here in SA.

(Damn, I miss the good smileys. Where is that eating popcorn one?)

Shame Dave I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed

Exactly. So how is that invasion of Iran coming along? November was the deadline right?

Maybe you should stop subjecting us to your tripe.

Read somewhere the Israelis wanted to strike Iranian nuke centers but Bush vetoed it. Not chance in hell of Obama giving the green light

Perhaps not as disappointed as you are knowing Obama is President :p

That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.

Avoiding the ' terrorist ' cliche.
A refreshing and perhaps indicative change of terminology.

You saw wrong. All indications are that closing Guantanamo is one of the first things he will do...

An inidication is not the same as it actually happening, yes he's stopped the prosecutions for 120 days, not the same.

So 99 more days for him to fulfill one of his fundamental promises...

Wasn't one of the issues the bleeding hearts had with Gitmo the fact that detainees could be held indefinitely without prosecution??
What's the 120 day suspension of prosecutions going to do, other than delay things further? ... it's not like any of the terrs are getting bail or something

@ OP

Can we maybe wait till he has been in office for 3 months before we start attributing blame to him?

' alleged ' terrs.

It's bad enough to lock them up without trial, but worse to find them guilty without trial.

hahahahahaaahahah! liked this bit from the article:

The prison camp currently holds about 245 inmates. Officials said nearly 60 detainees have been cleared for release, but no country has agreed to take them

'alleged' indeed!

Exactly. I'm sure S.A would take them. Rwenzori, Dave, Xarog and co will be more than willing to help out these glorious freedom fighters :D

Broke his promise of change by selecting Washington insiders. Most notably Joe Bidden for Vice President

A striking number of new and potential team members can trace their professional history to the same political birthplace—the administration of President Bill Clinton.

There's Sen. Hillary Clinton, of course, the former first lady now under consideration for secretary of state. And Rep. Rahm Emanuel, the former Bill Clinton aide who will be Obama's chief of staff. And Eric Holder, once top deputy to former Atty. Gen. Janet Reno and now Obama's likely pick for attorney general. There's the new White House lawyer, the budget director and so on.

For all his talk of transformation, Obama's earliest decisions suggest something odd: The more things change, the more they look like the 1990s. Some predict a Clinton Restoration in the making.
