Oblivion 0r the Witcher

Just something to consider Witcher enhanced edition is launching on 16 or 19 September. Not sure if we will be getting here in SA though. Haven't seen it on bt games release list.

For those who have the original witcher we get the content for free download if you registered your copy at the official site.

Witcher no contest. Beats oblivion silly when it comes to story. If you want to just explore big open areas go for oblivion if you want an engrossing story go witcher.

Oh yeah the choices you make in the witcher actually has an impact while in oblivion it doesn't.

I have finished the witcher 3 times. I only played oblivion once.

Can't wait for the enhanced edition either. Also the second translated book of Geralt will be released in october.
Witcher!!!!!!!

Here's the most objective review of both games [this dude is hilarious]. It's both about 5 minute video reviews, and this guy does not review a game if it does not potentially suck ;)

Anyhow since i played both:

Pick Oblivion if you want "sandbox" play aka "do what you want, go where you want" . The actual plot in Oblivion is pretty "meh" and you never feel any urge to actually follow it. If you like "ploetering" around doing quests, picking up loot and improving your stats, armor, skills , Oblivion is great.

Witcher. It's very linear with limited freedom [you do get to run around in a specific part of a town, you unlock further parts as you progress the story line]...but the advantage is having a very interactive and great plot.
That said, combat in Witcher is "meh", if you're not playing Witcher for the story, dialog and the interesting characters then you're gonna hate it.

Unlike Oblivion, your focus is not on increasing skills/stats/armor [even though there is a intricate skill/level system going]. In fact i can't even remember getting new weapons in the entire game [maybe once or twice].

I think alot of people like Witcher also because it's a very Adult themed game, the whole card-collecting thing [every girl you sleep [yes lots of this] which grants you some collectable card] is an example...you don't get any special stats for it.

Lastly, Oblivion's world is HUGE. Witcher's world is TINY. However in Witcher you will have all 50 interesting things happen in the same area, where in Oblivion you might see 1 interesting thing in an area.

damn

it seems getting both might be the answer. good arguments for both sides

tried to play the witcher demo last night i got off the NAG mag but i kept getting an error when extracting

gona try again tonight. maybe a last chance for witcher to win me over

If you've never played an RPG, Oblivion is probably the best route. It has -everything- , in fact you'll get a good idea what games like World of Warcraft and such is about too...just imagine you see other players with you in the world.

Played both. Enjoy both. But, I prefer Oblivion.

Get Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul mod. It removes the NPC auto levelling thing and adds several other thing to the game.

I likes The Witcher better than Oblivion. I never really liked the Elder Scrolls settings :( The rest is fine, graphics is cool and the world nice and big, but the story is blegh.

I found the witcher a tad boring at the start,so I dumped it after a a few days...Oblivion,on the other hand is one of the most customisable rpgs like ever'er!ZOMGLIKEWTF!!!I had the game and both Expansions, plus an additional 4 GIGS of mods from either tesnexus.com or planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com.
The only downside to oblivion?after a good 100 hours of kicking ass,you get really bored(and thats before completing any faction or any of the three main quests...)
