Oblivion 0r the Witcher

There are plenty of bows and plenty of arrow types as well ;) You can even enchant a bow to have special attributes as well.

got oblivion GOTY edition saturday morning

have played about 4 hours and am enjoying it loads. the oblivion planes are flipping tough. little fire throwing bastards are tough as nails. will prob get the witcher as well but at a later stage.

my little celeron 2.6ghz is running it just great. but getting a core2duo sometime in this week or next week.

i reckon walkthroughs are gona play a big part in me gettting anywhere in this game. so much to do and so much landscape.

enjoyable game. cant put it off easily once started.

Chose a High Elf, born under The Lord star and chose Knight class. bashing goblins has never been this fun

In Oblivion, at one point my character had 103% damage reflection, I could just kinda stand there and do nothing :) Not much fun though, like playing with God mode or something.

And so the Oblivion addiction started!

Absolutely love the game! By far one of my fav games of all times! Have tried Witcher, too easy, you manage to get everything right the first time, too linear! Oblivion on the other hand... :D

*sigh*
All this talk about Oblivion is making me wanting to play it again...playing an dark brotherhood character is so much fun. ;)

how the hell do you block those damn fire throwing bastards in oblivion gates attacks.

i dont know why i find them so hard to kill.

are they just hard to kill or what

right click is block, if i remember it correctly ... and dont forget to get some mods for it.
There is a mod to fix the font size of the inventory screens, which was that size basically for the consoles, its so much better to be able to see more than 10 items per screen ;-) not to mention not having to scroll endlessly on the map

will see if i can find the file names, cause its quite a big difference once u use it, also get some texture packs (but might be a bit of a strain if u running a celeron, seeing they recommend a 513MB gfx card, doubt u will have 1 of those on your lowbugdet rig)

txture replacement mod: http://big.tessource.net/download.p... Replacement-TESSource.zip&site=tessource.net

That's BTmod

You should also get nature mod that makes trees bigger.
The mod that makes water look better.
Saddlebags mod. Definitely!
The mod that makes Nords and Orcs larger.
The mod that makes trolls and other creature sizes larger.
The economic mod.
The mod that makes the sky prettier.
The mod that makes the nights darker.

Sorry can't remember the names. All I remember was that I was using 20 mods the last time I played it.

Level up a bit more - and try and get better armour & weapons.
I played with a argonian custom class character - battle mage/asassin type - that specialises in light armor and short swords/daggers.

What level is your character?
Also your high elf is 100% weak against magic so you have to be a bit more careful than usual!

i think level 3 or something

only 4 hours in really

damn that 100% weak against magic. thats where they been hurting me.

Morrowind was way better than Oblivion.
They really made Oblivion too easy. And it gets boring very quickly.
You can just teleport anywhere you want....

No wonder you are getting your arse handed in a handbasket. :p

Change the way you look at obivion immediately and forget about the main quest you need to level up a bit first.

A good combination with high elf is the Atronach star sign - 50% chance of absorbing magicka but you dont regenerate magicka, but since you are playing a knight, i doubt you are going to worry too much about magick at the beginning and you can always spam cheap spells to build the magic later on.

Start playing some side quests and join the mage and fighters guild immediately, for side quests and cash. But more importantly you get expensive armour and weapons for free at the fighter guilds.
A full set of steel armour is available early on at the fighter guilds and fine silver/steel swords etc also.
Try and get to level 10 as fast as possible, so that you can get the next level armour/weapons becomes available. I think it is dwarven for heavy and glass for light.
A trick i learned for low level chars to get cool armour quickly is to get the quest at the harbour where the bandits are stealing stuff...forgot the name of the city :o ... and wait for them to appear and as soon as you start dying run outside the shop and get the surrounding sailors and gaurds to kill the bandits.... and there we have armour for the picking, they normally wear mythril armour - so iot should help you out quickly.
All creatures/chests in the world should be giving you better armour and weapons and it changes at every ten levels I think.

thanks for that solid advice

i was funny enough looking for that fighters guild. am in that city so i was kinda on the right track.

im gona save your rep and follow it to the tee:)

nice
