Hi dudes ya same problem i also wanna run oblivion with the max my system gives
me bt my system is a little lower:
2.8 Ghz Celeron :(
2 gigs Ram :)
Xp
1280*786 monitor
AGP 8x

I'm still thinking about which graphics card i should buy which would suit my system.
I thougt about the CHAINTECH GEFORCE 7300GT Agp with 128bit ddr2 256mb
memory.
Any feedback welcome.

Morrowind is cool too, but it has no instant travel feature hence it takes ages to do quests.
I have Morrow + all the expansions :)

hmm... full graphics on Oblivion is going to require a bit more than a 7300GT imho. but thats just my 2c =) I would look at a 8600GT at least

Morrowind is like 999999999X better.

No, it's only 999999699X times better, don't exaggerate like that.

:p

Oh, a 2.8 Ghz Celeron isn't going to cut it, especially if it's an older Celeron which it probably is since you're using AGP, also a 7300GT is going to be about as good as a new pencil, expect to get about 5 FPS in "1024x768x32, no AA, 8x AF, max Quality, HDR-R" that's presuming you upgrade your CPU, and 8600GTS 256MB should get you about 20FPS on those same settings, so if you lower them a little it would be okay.

So minimum get a 8600GTS + new CPU for decent graphics in it.

Honestly, if I were you, I'd save up to get a new PCI-e system with DDR2, it would probably be alot cheaper than you expect with better performance and it will have more future upgrade potential. If you upgrade your current system it's only going to last a short while before you can't play newer games again and wont be able to upgrade it at all.

I dislike oblivion. It's one of my least favourite rpg's of all time.

Right and after that useful piece of information ....... :p Onto the specs .... Tis true that Celeron isn't going to handle the game very well. As for the gfx card ... try and get a minimum 7600GT or 8600GT or be prepared for a very slow game at very low res. My 7600Gt coupled with a 2.8 Dualie and 2gb Ram handled the game quite nicely :D

That is part of what makes Oblivion worse than Morrowind. Stupid instant travel! It's like cheating. You just teleport all over the place.

then don't :P

Ayway, I plan Oblivion on my 360 :) Love it.

thanx
