OckieMoto's gripe with Android (Android push functionality)

hahahaha....now get a load of this. Just opened a yahoo mail account...downloaded the yahoo app from market.....IT WORKS A DREAM! Instand delivery my china's. How is it that the email service of the company that designed and brought Android to life cant get their email working properly on their own OS? Now, I know that you guys dont seem to have the same problem as me...but I know there are others that are having the same problems from reviews on the market for the gmail app. tsk tsk tsk.

But do I really now wanna switch email accounts again? bleh.

Well you could set up your gmail account to forward to Yahoo.. or you could just try and fix the problem...

Have you tried using the Mail application (not Gmail, just Mail) and putting your Gmail details in there?

I aint getting any younger and gaan nie meer my f@kken gat af sukkel om kinder K@k uit te sort nie. If it aint woking straight out of the box like it should then fckkit! tsk.

Tnx guys. Now WhatsApp must pull their finger out of their @sses and get their sht together. Sorry for the language maar ek is g@tvol vir 'n gesukkel.

Lekker slaap mense

What is your Sync and Background sync settings under Setting --> Accounts and Sync

Both Background Data and Auto-Sync should be ticked as well as Google Account must be active.

They propably have not had time yet to implement the newly made available C2DM service into their Android WhatsApp client. I am pissed off with them anyway...cause they dont say that WhatsApp is not really push on Android.

They've been using C2DM since around September last year

Oh FFS!!!! Now I see you need to pay Yahoo to get POP to use a email client on your computer! What is happening to our world!!!!!!!! URG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FCK FCK FCK FCK FCK!

If your background data is disabled you might never get whatsapp messages, make sure it is enabled!

Have the same problem with email on my phone. My email takes about 30-60mins to come through.

Also when somebody sends me a msg on FB, I get the msg notification much later.

With my old BB my mail and other notifications came through instantly.

Sent from my HTC Desire using MyBroadband Android App

With Gmail, if you set it to fetch email from your other accounts it can take ages to come though. Only emails sent straight to the Gmail account come through quickly.

As for Whatsapp, it just sucks.

There are things - the really important day-to-day work things - that BlackBerry just do better than any other product. Fact. It's the A10 Hog of phones. It's ugly, it's old, but it's the best for what it was designed for (no matter how many times we hear it should be mothball'd).

After my experience with Android...I have to agree.

oc I have a Galaxy S my fiance has an Optimus one and I have 2 mates running an experia pro and an HTC wildfire and none of the seems to be having this problem. I wonder if there isn't something wrong with your firmware?

How is that possible though. Android is the same accross the board is it not? Apart from a few cosmetic changes from manufacturers and some additional software that might be installed from them?

I keep wondering if the firmware update you installed isn't a teeny weeny bit corrupt... on the other hand my fiance sometimes has problems getting messages at the school she teaches at in Craighall. It's a wealthy area and the 3G reception is freaking horrendous. It keeps flip flopping between a crappy 3G signal and an "ok" GPRS connection, so sometimes the messages take 10-15min to be delivered.

That might be a possibility?
