Hi all,

I took Afrihost up on their Pure Fibre offering which was great at the start, service etc. really good. It has been a week since Octotel installed the ONT but we (Afrihost) have not yet been able to activate my Fibre.

Octotel says everything is fine, Afrihost says it should be fine, ultimately both are saying I am a dumbass.

Perhaps someone else can shed some light on the issue.
The DASAN ONT lights are all green (that should be good). When connecting a laptop directly to it, I can see it only issues 192.168.55.x addresses from it's own DHCP server. I would have expected it to have a public IP which it would then bridge through to the router on the other side (or in this case the laptop). Am I correct in expecting this?

Or is the ONT behaving correctly? There is no PPPoE setup on the Afrihost router.

If that is the case, what do you thing could be the issue?

Thanks

Hi there. First of all - we definitely never, ever want to make you feel this way. I promise we don't think you're incapable - and it's our job to make this process easy and as seamless as possible.

You generally shouldn't need to do anything on the ONT. If you got a router from us, it should be ready to plug in and play. We don't use PPPoE, we use DHCP (with Octotel). Essentially it should just all plug in and work.

Can you please drop me a PM and let me know what your account details are?

PS Very, very sorry we made you feel dumb in this process. We definitely should never do that. And even though I work for a tech company, it's very easy to be overwhelmed by all this stuff. Get me your details and let me get everything sorted out for you.
