I need some advice on a warranty void on my SSD.

I bought the SSD in November 2013, plugged it into my PC, all is well.
Almost 1 year later to the date I switch on the PC one morning, SSD not found (OS Drive).
So I do the normal checks, process of elimination and come to the conclusion the SSD is dead.
Sent the drive in via Esquire under warranty(5 year warranty on drive), 3/4 weeks later(today) got a call from Esquire saying that the warranty is deemed void by the manufacturer because there is a small chip on the power adapter causing the drive not to be detected...

Now my question is how the hell does that happen?? :wtf:
The drive was plugged in once then operated for a year before dying, then plugged out and tested on another power adapter to eliminate the current power adapter as a problem. So a max of 4 times was the power cable removed, 3 of those times after the drive died.

Is that to much wear & tear?? I have HDD's that are more than 5 years old that has taken a much harder "beating" than this drive and still 100% working order.

So would you guys take this further (where and how) or move on and moer the thing stukkend against a wall?

*Rant complete* :)

esquire and warranty
they don't go together ... search the forum and you will find many threads like yours
sorry, but its unlikely anything will come of this .... time to cough up for a new drive unfortunately

I will fetch the drive sometime this week and upload some pictures. I still have to see for myself what they are talking about as well...

had a few of these SSD's fail on me before; but never had issues RMA with the supplier; unless its really been bahsed and broken badly?

one more thought; typical conspiracy rant......
you got any pictures before you sent it in? could it be that it dropped on the floor in the workshop while with them; and when they tried to claim warranty saw its cracked and refused?

sounds evil; but could be they "accidentially" did it to get you to buy new.....

The OCZ Vector is a very good drive so I'm not sure what your point is here.

had the most expensive components fail on me; ones that are designed to run continuously for 220 years ....
stopped believing one brand is better than another brand; even the most robust components fail, its the after-sales service that counts......

Agreed, Mine has been performing perfectly for over a year now. I haven't had a single issue, even though i used to run a Disk Defrag once every 2nd week for about 2 months until i found out it does more harm then good to those drives.

Only thought of that now also, no way in proving that it was not there when I gave it in. :(

What has that got to do with your statement above?
You said that you get what you pay for.

The guy paid for a decent ssd so what exactly is your point?

Credit given where credit is due guys.

Ashley at Esquire went out of his way to accommodate me and managed to get me a brand spanking new SSD to replace my drive.
So happy ending after all!

has esquire turned over a new leaf??
glad you got sorted, hopefully this is the start of a new esquire

sure it has something to do with MYBB, somebody somewhere saw this and being an IT retailer; said its gonna cause more harm than good to not give him his SSD back;

had something similar happen to me before; with Samsung SA;
took my lappy to them wont turn on.... told me as you upgraded the drive, warranty is void, posted here, somebody read it ; called me back replaced my M/B all ok.....

its like the new way to get things done in SA these days; if you dont stand on somebodys head and make a fuss wont get anything done.....

just have to get used to it, seems to be the new normal......

esquire previously did not care even if you did post on MYBB, other than to get upset and remove your account, but it seems that maybe things have changed??
although, 1 incident does not turn the tide ... but definitely a positive step

I am glad it is replaced by Esquire despite of being rejected by the manufaturer. My question is technical nature:
got a call from Esquire saying that the warranty is deemed void by the manufacturer because there is a small chip on the power adapter causing the drive not to be detected...
I am very interested to know more about this small chip which can void warranty. Esquire: would it be possible to quote entire report? What kind of chip it is: G-sensor, sweet smell trigger? Or maybe it is blown ordinary 3-pin voltage regulator which can be replaced at no cost? :)

Shouldnt things like that have "warranty is void if broken" stickers on it?

Well Esquire told me when i asked them about warranty left on my drive. They told me it is up this year. Got it 2012. AFAIK the vertex 4 has a 5yr warranty.
