I was helping my Dad who is visiting set up DSTVNow on his PC to watch live sport when he's not at home.
Everything worked fine until I plugged the power in as the battery was running low.

Bottom line .. connects to DSTV when unplugged from power.
Will NOT connect when plugged into power.

Other sites are fine.

I'm really stumped!

Tried this 100 times the past few days !

Check whether laptop is using the same Internet connection in both cases. It could be situation that laptop is running on the Ethernet cable when using battery. When you connect power cord, ground loops kill Ethernet cable cconnection and laptop is switching to WiFi. A different adapter, different IP, different MAC address.

It's using WiFi only in both cases

Is there perhaps a led light nearby that is on, try to move the laptop nearer to router or test with a lan cable

Check Power Settings
Cycle between Balanced/High/Power Saver
Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings - Change Advanced Power Settings
Multimedia Settings... maybe something is killing the the video
Wireless Adapter Settings ... or dropping the radio power

I have a laptop that does this with the wifi. Will connect to wifi when plugged in to the charger, but will not connect when on battery power. Checked all settings and all seems fine. Eventually I gave up and accepted that I was cursed.

Mine is the exact opposite :crylaugh:

Thanks but I tried every possible variation before and nothing changes the issue

Works with other sites. So it's not an interference thing

Maybe its the DSTV website thats set to do that to prevent people from just leaving their laptop/PC next to a TV and streaming DSTV instead of having a decoder (to prevent folk from sharing a sub in a sense)

Doubtful, I've done this before on a laptop that was connected to the charger.

I highly doubt our fabulous Multichoice is that innovative.
