Offensive Playstation ad canned

bollocks and sod off are classified as offensive, especially to people from England...

I don't find it offensive but I do wonder why Sony keeps on trying to offend people. This is not the first time there ad has been canned.

Isn't bollocks another name for Durban? :D Or was it bollocksless.... I can't remember now :D

Mrs Lynn Zachariades should be glad if kids today use only words like bollocks
Most of the time they use much worse...

I thought it was something to do with bull's bollocks. :)
Yes I realise that ;) However that does not in itself make them okay...
I went to a stodgy UK public school* and they rarely batted a eyelid to those phrases.

* To put it in perspective kids at school regularly had their pockets sewn up for walking with their hands in them and we were still in mourning for Queen Victoria 100 years after her death.

Playing pocket billiards whilst thinking of Queen Vic?:eek::eek:

No. That is the [-]language[/-] slang of England (and on many levels is considered 'quaint' or funny.) OBVIOUSLY too sophisticated for ONE south african viewer.

Having said that I fail to understand why sa ads must 'invariably' include violence, pain or offence.

You forgot to include nudity. And it's not invariable... some have insipid housewives and grinning kids whose faces you just want to beat in with a length of lead pipe.

Nudity? I have no problem with nudity. No. I have no wish to beat anybody with a lead pipe. Do you? (There is help available.)

99% of tv ads are offensive to me.

Firstly as the powers that be presume you have drifted off to sleep and really want to be woken for the next LOUD ad-break.

Secondly my brain is offended as the majority of advertisers presume I have the mentality of a lobotomised dungbeetle. If I hear once more that company a-z is only in business to be ' there for me..' . BOLLOCKS ! You are there to make my wallet lighter. Nothing more.

So to all the advertisers - SOD OFF and DOUBLE BOLLOCKS to you.
( with a little nudity thrown in just to irritate the verkramptes. )

Amatuer marketeers still think offending people is the best form of advertising. It happens when they run out of clever real ideas.

Marketeer1: "Aw crappo, I really need to draw brand attnetion, but I am soo tired today"
Marketeer2: "I know what you mean, in between running legal spam campaigns, and screwing up online gaming, and contributing towards consumerism which has had direct impacts on the environment, I am really tired."
Marketeer1: "I know, lets just piss people off, that will draw attention"
Marketerr2: "But dont we do that already being so 'in your face' with everything we do"
Marketeer1: "True, but I really want to insult peoples intelligence, just to see how far I can take it."
Marketeer2: "Why dont you just swear at them."
Marketeer1: "Good idea"

And so the sony campaign was born.

Marketing budget: several million
Original ideas: 0
Brain cells involved: 2
Turning people against your brand: Priceless

I know of at least one game (GoW) that lets you filter out "extreme content". It would surprise me if this was the only such game.
