Office 2010 - What to expect

I'm curious if there is anyone who is actually considering buying this new version. Nothing about seems even remotely worth paying for.

well we will get it in the partner pack which is pretty cool so will play around with it as soon as we get and it should be around november

Same, the company I work for is also still stuck on Office 2003.

At university level some of my honours courses was in Excel 2007, had to relearn Excel 2003 :(

Must admit that apart from the bug with recording chart-macros I like Excel 2007 a lot more.

At least it seems I've managed to convince my department head that we must upgrade to Office 2007 by years end!

Sometimes I wish a companies would give you Rxxx to set up a pc to your liking, instead of having a paranoid IT department dictate what happens.

I hate Office2007 with a passion.

For starters, the horrible ribbon.

And it's defintely slower than Office2003.

nothing wrong with office 2007, once you get use to it then actually see how much easier it is to use. and from what I have seen office 2010 is going to look the same just with more features in it.

I like what they are planning on doing with the Outlook with the conversation thread so when having a long conversation it looks like a thread. it makes the inbox so much easier to use.

I have the ridiculous situation of having 2k7 at home and only 2k3 at work! The add-in viewer doesn't support passwords or Excel Pivot tables.

What's it going to be like trying the on-line office version on poor bandwidth? I don't suppose Microsoft could organise local hosting so we only use local bandwidth and get better latencies.

yep, I am lucky that I can use office 2007, however the majority of the organisation is on office 2003. And if some people had their way MS would totally disappear. That is fine for the normal peeps, but it will be a problem for the hardcore financial guys who uses excel for the most amazing things.

Why was this not just called Office 7 ... ?

Office2007 is ****, I would rather have Office2003, but with Outlook 2000 for its use of IE to render embedded web pages, instead of using Word to render web pages, which is what they switched to from Office2003 onward, including the new Office2010

But how cool to have Windows 7, Office 7 and Windows Mobile 7 ... ? ;)

I think's coming :/

I'm pretty sure I google it and they're working on it - I think :/
