The [-]twat[/-] ref -

whew! good thing there's no bias hey ..........
Narse Botha normally defends any blue bull forward pass with a "but look at the hands, the intent was to pass backwards".
I see this time he is silent.

We spoke to the TMO during half time.

He says there was no conclusive evidence that the ball went forward out of the hands. That is the criteria for a forward pass. Not where the ball is released and where it ends up being taken.

I really hate this damn rule. It is so open to interpretation. It would be so much simpler if the rule was "the ball must be caught in a field position behind where the ball was released."

Draw a line across the field where the ball left the hand and a line where it was caught. If the second is in front of the first it is forward.

Yes, players would need to be a bit more careful but it would be so much easier and consistent to referee.

The biggest issue with the game is gray rules like this which just can't be consistently applied in such a fast paced sport.

It is a difficult one but I do believe the out of the hands way is the way to go.

Damian de Allende, take a bow. Match saving tackle! Shew, nerves (and finger nails) gone. Well done to both teams. Lot's of issues for both teams, but a great match full of passion and spirit.
