Official 2015 Super Rugby Thread

It is a difficult one but I do believe the out of the hands way is the way to go.

See this video:

Watched that many times, clarifies very little re the forward pass for me.

While it does not clarify exactly what a forward pass is. It does show that the majority of the passes in speeding backline move will be called forward if only judged on the criteria of release-receive point.

Like I said. It is a difficult one and one that will cause many a angry fan in the future.

All of us in the media box thought it was a forward pass.

Gary Gold (even though he was not allowed to say it in so many words) clearly did not agree with ANY of the TMO calls. And was especially irritated about Ndungane's knock being ruled as such.

He said that if the "No clear and conclusive evidence" rule was applied to the Jesse Kriel pass, why not to the Ndungane knock?

On that forward pass, if you look on the grass , you can see a light/dark square on the grass, the pall is passed just before/on that grass line and then received at least if not more 1.5m ahead of the grass line, that to me is a forward pass, if you receive a ball that distance ahead of where it left someone's hands then it is FORWARD! screw that thing about looking at how the passer's hands are angled.....

That rule at the lineout, where the opposing team all fall back also needs to be reviewed in my humble opinion.....

And on top of that, Kriel was just about running sideways when he passed -as opposed to straight forward.
Definitely a forward pass.
Shocking that these types of calls are still made with all the tech available.

I'm realising that my superbru position might be largely to do with the fact that I have no idea what you guys are talking about

I've yet to see a game cos I've got no satellite TV and the net is too slow to stream.

Consequently I've not idea who to pick other than looking at results and have no hunches to go on.

Anyway, I might just get a dartboard and make selections a bit easier

6 out of 7 picked correctly this weekend. Denied by the Sharks throwing it to the Bulls  At least my colleague at work got a good win on his birthday.

Those with HDTV's how does the stadium roof camera view look? The angle SS seems to love...

Can't remember.

But I do suspect there's an informal competition amongst the SS cameramen to get at least one "through the Assistant Ref's legs" shot in per game. We've suddenly been getting a lot of those.

I'm asking, because it appears they are using fewer cameras and some are at ridiculous distances and sometimes angles.

My Partner at work is a qualified ref with SARFU, falling under the Northern Cape, I asked him about the pass, he never saw it, but tried to explain the principals of momentum to me....

Oh! Somebody please post the invite code for the MyBB Superbru group..... I wish to enter in a blaze of glory!
