because he only started performing consistently this past season and wasnt anything special up until this season... last season 99% of arsenal supporters couldnt give a **** if he left...

Thats what i cant understand. AC is a bigger and better club than Arsenal. A players dream to play in the San Siro.

Porto won it (uefa) in 2003 and then went on to win the champs league final the following year.
The uefa cup is as much a showpiece of football as the champs league and only someone who doesn’t appreciate/understand football will disagree.

I never said the UEFA cup wasn't a decent tournament what I said is that the big/great teams do not care about it.

It has some decent midtable sides but to say it's a great tournament is over emphasizing it.

The Italian and Spnish cups are also show piece competitions but I would never call them great competitions.

Porto was an exception and that was under mourinho. Have they come close to winning anything in europe since he left?? That still doesn't make the uefa cup a big competition.

Its a good competition to watch and fun for the lesser European sides but its not taken seriously by any of the big european clubs unless they failed and need a trophy to save their season.

Go and ask the Bayern fans what was more important winning the german league or trying to win the uefa cup. Go and ask Fiorentina what was more important finishing fourth in the league and cl football or trying to win the uefa cup.

No he left because Arsenal are stingy when it comes to wages and have always been. They refuse to pay the wages that the other big clubs do and that's why they haven't won something in 4 + years since Viera left.

Look the UEFA Cup is not as big as it use to be.I remmember looking forward to them uefa cup games especially in the mid 90s where there were some execellent sides ( whos remmembers the Parma vs Juve game 1995).However it not the same anymore.I any forgot about this season's final.Only realized a day later that it was played the previous day.
