OFFICIAL Android thread

No I don't think so, Try it! Will be interesting. After you loaded MCR 3.0 boot and check if you see the wavesecure protection. If not load the wave secure patch and the boot sounds if you want them. Then report back to us. Hehe!! And 1.91 Kernel obviously...

Nexus One Launch 5 Jan 2010?

According to Engadged (and others)

google it....

Report back:

Wavesecure is gone !! :(

But all my apps are back!!
Woohoo !!

I'm just going to run the wavesecure update rom without flashing and will let you know.
:D

eish but thats international. and isnt the nexus only getting distributed thru certain carriers in the states? which mean we wont see it anyway

One question though....

How do I run as root?

An app called BlueX doesn't run because apparently I don't have permissions to run as root!

Also, if I decide to get a bigger MicroSD card, how do I essentially mirror my setting/apps etc. onto the new card?

you dont have permission to run as root? thats what rooting aquires .

and surely you cant install custom roms without rooting

hmmmm

Do you have Connect Bot installed? You can probably run the file from there. If you type in su in connect bot you have super user access and can pretty much do anything you want.

About the SD card: If you boot from recovery you can partition the card for Apps2SD and all you current apps will be moved to the sd.

There's also a application called superuser permissions on the phone try ticking the green plus thing. Don't know what it is but maybe that will give you permission. Lol!!

It's there, but the plus removes it. :(
What would require me to have root acess?
What other apps need root access?

Root access is basically just to have access via the shell commands to the entire phone and the system files. Do you have the setting enabled for installation of 3rd party apps?

2.1 update for the masses :)

ok i have it running. took a couple restarts, many error messages, restarts wipes batt removals etc but its running great now

its amazing ! bluntly. almost everything is slightly changed. and then obviously the things that are massively changed like google navigation etc

pros: its android 2.1 (it looks amazing) has many new built in toys (not sure how many are dev added and how many are standard)

cons: slightly more laggy than standard hero, much more laggy than modaco. but its understandable. this is dev work in progress. some weird bugs in contacts. not all my numbers synced with google it seemed. couple little things.

i will probably go back to modaco just coz of smoothness and speed, but so glad i did this to see what is in store for us when HTC do an official 2.1 sense release.

ive heard many iphone fans using as their anti android argument that android is so fragmented with versions 1.1 thru to 2.1 in the marketplace, but if you think what latest android is now offering compared to just 6 months ago .... WOW . bring on fragmentation then :) lets keep moving. so iphones latest big software release in ages had cut copy and paste and mms added hehe

Also it doesn't support our cellular frequencies.

to me the nexus is just a glorified hero.... still htc hardware. the real mean machine is going to be bravo i reckon

strange thing on 2.1

was still doing weird stuff, not all my contacts were loading etc... did another wipe and now its faster, all the contacts have loaded now (seems i was in a dodgy gprs area, and network was just slow )

i might not be changing back at this rate hehe

Still going to be faster than the Hero even if it is an HTC but with a Snapdragon, it is going to come in a GSM form which would mean worldwide use lol. Bravo apparently is expected for the Q2 of 2010 from my sources.
