strange thing on 2.1

was still doing weird stuff, not all my contacts were loading etc... did another wipe and now its faster, all the contacts have loaded now (seems i was in a dodgy gprs area, and network was just slow )

i might not be changing back at this rate hehe

Is it easy to backup all the contacts and then restore again if a new ROM is loaded? I'm afraid of that because that took me ages to link all my contacts to the facebook profiles for instance.

backup contacts? i have all my contacts sitting on google servers, not on my phone. if im in decent hsdpa area it only takes like a minute to sync. same with FB

Yes my contacts sync with Google too but does that include the FB links to contacts as well?

yeah its almost instant. just enter your fb address and wala its there.... i remember when i was on windows mobile and attempted that it took like half an hours. one little facebook contact pic at a time

Thanks man I was afraid of loading new ROM's because of this task of linking contacts again. But now it's just too easy wanna check out 2.1 too!!

Just had a look at that 2.1 and MCR 3.0 is way better imo. All my pictures of my contacts looks grainy and it force closes every time you go the albums from facebook. Calculator looks rubbish!
But I'm not sure it installed Build 1.8 because in the info it said 1.7 still, weird..

Are you still using it Kvi?

Internet access

Hello
I have a HTC Dream through MTN. It is running version 1.5 firmware. I need to access the internet on my laptop using the phone. I am currently using PdaNet to so this but this software has limitations unless the full version is purchased. All the other connection softwares seem to require root access. My questions are:
1. Do I need to root access the phone.
2. Will I lose any of the present functions.
3. What software would be best to use to access the net from the phone.
4. What is the best way to achieve the above.

Thanks for any replies.

no im back to mcr3. that 2.1 is still in dev. mind you there are other people out there making other 2.1 versions, should actually try some more.

I have not tried it (phone in for repair  ), but this sounds promising:
USB tethering without root (not SOCK5)

I saw today that if you install and register with WaveSecure before the end of January then it is a free lifetime membership. This allows you to track your phone if it gets stolen and also remotely wipe your data.

ah cool. found it on market and installed and registered for free .

so i have the ndrive maps lying on my laptop from a "previous" installation.

now, with my freshly installed modaco rom on my hero, ive installed the ndrive off the market. is there somewhere on my SD card or other place i can place these maps to make it work?

Sony Ericsson fails again. are all the Scandinavian countries failing all of a sudden or what?

Volvo sold to china, Saab in crisis, Iceland in financial ruin

Sony Ericsson can confirm that the X2 will not be released by Vodafone in the UK. The delivery date of the product has slipped due to extended testing and the product, that was exclusive to Vodafone in the UK, no longer fits within their planned portfolio. The handset is available in other Sony Ericsson markets however. Sony Ericsson is disappointed not to make this phone available to consumers in the UK but in 2010 the company will offer a number of innovative, stand-out products in the market.

cannot purchase ndrive SA map:(

select map, fill out the whole visa card thing, then it directs you to "verification by visa" put password in, then it just goes blank white screen forever....
