The man is a managerial equivalent of a football wonderkid. He started all this when he was 17, coached an international team at 21. Been mentored by Robson and Mourinho. Then he won a treble with Porto taking out a pretty good Benfica outfit. Its not so much that he won the treble but rather the manner in which is team dominated the league in particular that stands out! I reckon he will be as good as Mou was for us when he won the consecutive leagues. Roman will also give him two years to win the UCL which I think he can do provided our main transfer targets come through this summer. Interestingly there is much speculation that he'll be bringing in a few of his padawans from Porto - if thats true then we should get Hulk who can effectively play as a RF/RWF in our 4-3-3 instead of Falcao who'd be primarily a CF.
As for the clause I highly doubt he paid it with his actual own money - he earned 1.3ma while at Porto this year and coached Academia prior to this, I somehow doubt he has the financial capacity to pay that clause. It is most likely that Chelsea gave him the money to break the clause. All in all exciting times going forward for Chelsea - refreshing new manager and a few transfers to invigorate the squad should make for a nice title tilt next season. Going to be a lovely EPL to watch with Utd, City, Pool all looking stronger (not sure about Arsenal, if they lose Cesc(possibly Nasri) they will have to do a lot to rebuild).

If he has freedom and has the backing of everyone(including the owner) he could become the best coach in england...
