In the club's defence, once Wilkins departed, Ancelotti became a lame one, just moving the ball around like an Italian team, doing nothing with it.
 
Sad to see Carlo go, but better now than let the situation drag on. Appoint a new coach asap and lets prepare for next season.

Blues job tempts Van Basten
Dutchman would welcome talks over managerial position


The Blues are on the lookout for a new manager after Ancelotti's two-year reign came to an end on Sunday following a trophyless campaign.

A number of high-profile names have already been linked with the vacant role and Van Basten is among the early favourites with bookmakers.

The Dutch legend is currently out of work, having previously had spells in charge of Holland and Ajax.

Sources close to Van Basten say he is interested in any serious job offer, not necessarily from a big club in a big competition, but it is believed there has been no contact from Chelsea since Ancelotti's departure.

Van Basten has been connected with Sporting Lisbon but it is understood there is no pre-contract agreement with the Portuguese club, paving the way for any Chelsea approach.

Turkey focus for Hiddink

Turkey boss Guus Hiddink is another manager reportedly in the frame to replace Ancelotti after making a positive impression during a temporary spell in charge of Chelsea in 2009.

Hiddink's agent has refused to rule out the experienced tactician making a return to Stamford Bridge, despite recent suggestions that he would be opposed to resuming a career in frontline club management.

However, Cees van Nieuwenhuizen warned the earliest Hiddink would currently be available would be October as he would not break his contract with Turkey.

Speaking about the reports that claimed Hiddink did not want to manage again at club level, the agent said. "I don't know that you can say that.

"He is focusing on his job and he likes what he is doing.

"He said also in his column on Saturday in De Telegraaf, the Dutch newspaper, that as long as he is in the race for the European Championship with Turkey, he would continue to focus on that.

"Once that is finished, he will start thinking about his future."

Van Nieuwenhuizen added: "I think that Chelsea has to make a decision in the shorter term rather than waiting until November."

Van Nieuwenhuizen insisted he knew nothing of reports that Hiddink had recommended Van Basten to Roman Abramovich as an alternative to himself as manager but confirmed the fellow Dutchmen were in touch.

"They meet each other every now and then," he said.

Would be intriguing to see Van Basten. He's strong on morals. He'll easily bench the likes of Terry and Ballack if they aren't on their A game.

Fook I meant old fat frank. Sorry not thinking properly :/ And ya when his teams play well, they play really well. But when his teams play crap, they play really crap.
 
Anyway, he kicked out the ou toppies from the Dutch side and then when the going got tough... he recalled some of them. Hardly a man who "lays down the law".

EDIT: That's what I was calling bull**** on btw...
 
Last thing... fat Frank would have hit 20 goals again this season if he had not been out for the majority of the season. Chelsea have a higher goals per game when he is in the side #fact
 
He kept Van Nistelrooy out cos he had a personal feud with him. As for the other players, he only really recalled Seedorf. Guys like Makaay and Van Bommel were never his favourite of players.

MAlouda getting stick on Twitter. Dude told him to **** off. I don't agree he should go, but he should definitely be a squad player next season - Sturridge is my preference.
