Official Currie Cup Thread 2012

I prefer Currie Cup/S15 games over internationals.

Currie Cup games still have line breaks, quick turnovers and offloads, internationals are endless kicking.

My prediction for this weekend, playing as g-man on SuperBru.

Griquas v Blue Bull:

Blue Bulls misery to continue, with Kwas winning a high scoring game.

FS Cheetahs v Golden Lions:

The Lions to break their 7 year drought in Bloem.

Sharks v WP:

Sharks big men to bring them home.

These were my picks as well, especially agree with the Lions beating the Cheetahs.

Yoh, huge hats off to the guys playing in that water logged iciness .......

Sharks 43 - 27 WeePee

with some citings to come for the dirty sons of bitches!

shocking referring. wp robbed by blatant biased reffing. absolutely shocking. you cannot wing again a kant like the ref.

Two things we've learned from this game. Water Polo is a very dirty sport. And Jacques Botes has a better jaw than Jean Deysel #MMARugby

Please set an example and try not to be like M_H.

We need to play better rugby next time, Sharks were the better team, end of story.

I am very impressed by the rugby played in this years Currie Cup. If only the Boks could adopt this gameplan in stead of Morne Steyn turning away from the backline to hoist the ball and chase.

The Lions are the team with the least problems regarding injuries and national team call-ups. The youngsters in their time however, have really stepped up. JC Janse van Rensburg is a better leader than Strauss and having Coetzee, Jantjies, Ross Cronje, Bondesio, Mapoe and Combrinck in the backline really works for them. Very entertaining. The Sharks are maybe worst off with the Test season at the moment. They are without almost an entire team, although they got Daniel back now, and still win their games. When you are without your entire front-row, backrow, wingers and back-up hooker you really have to test your depth and my precious Sharks have done that perfectly. Yes, they lost to the Bulls and Griquas but they also managed to win at Newlands. Not bad for a team primarily made up of benchwarmers and Vodacom Cup players.

Griquas are actually fighting for a spot in the play-offs. That would be something! For years they were the smaller union, capable to cause an upset but nothing more than that. This year they have less flamboyant players (Basson, Viljoen, Pretorius, Olivier, Roodt and Mokuena all played for them previously but without these decisive players, the Griquas team acts more like a team. Beating both the Bulls and Sharks at home, winning at Ellis Park... Impressive.

WP a bit lucky after they entered the new sport of MMA Rugby.

Tyrone Holmes suspended for 1 week and Jebb Sinclair no further sanction.
