Official Currie Cup Thread 2012

Very nice last weekend of Rugby to be played.

Sharks 30
Lions 28
Western Province 20
Griquas 20
Cheetahs 18
Blue Bulls 18

Thus the Sharks and Lions are sure of home Semi finals.

The last two spots for the semis are wide open.

I am guessing the Sharks should be able to take the Griekwas. The Bulls will need to be on top of their game to beat the lions, and the WP has no easier task facing the cheetahs.

i hear Taute's coming to the Stormers on loan. Elton to decide over the weekend, probably Stormers as well

Is Taute going to be picked over De Jongh again ? And Jantjies should make a nice addition to the stormers squad, now hows about adding Sarel Pretorious. So that we can finally have some sort of proper scrumhalf. But now the question, Grant or Jantjies ?

Going to the game tomorrow, lets hope my presence can spur WP onto a WIN

IIRC Grant is not playing for the Stormers next year.

He'll get cited for it don't worry.

Referee didn't see it and took recommendation from the assistant. Assistant should still have had the balls to call it red

Sharks looked awesome tonight. Best performance of the season for me... Including super 15...

Polished performance by the banana boys last night. Bodes well for the knockout stages.

A reliable source told me that Elton Jantjies will probably be moving to The Sharks instead of The Stormers. Goes against the public grain but it is a trusted source. Maybe Apoc can tell us more?

Jantjies has not decided yet but the chances of going to the Sharks are very slim. Especially after Plum outright stated that Lambie is his man at 10.

WP move just makes a lot more sense. Catrakilis moving to EP Kings, no Peter Grant and guys like Gary van Aswegen injury prone.

I will try and fish a bit tonight at the Lions vs Bulls game from the big guys.

Those were my thoughts too but my source is part of the coaching staff. My old rugby coach. So I'm inclined to believe him. Maybe he was just stirring the rumour pot...

Look the fact that he hasn't put pen to paper yet means that they are still negotiating.

I know he would prefer the Sharks because their whole game plan will fit him like a glove. Rampant forwards will allow him to play off the front foot and attack the line freely. Whereas at the Stormers he will be forced to become a defensive flyhalf only there for his kicking.

I just can't see him wanting to sit on the bench and come on after 60min with Lambie moving to fullback.

I will hear what the guys say tonight and even pop a question to Lions management at the post match presser if we are allowed to touch on that subject.

Jantjies has been sublime for two seasons now and has certainly proved his worth. Moving to the Sharks would only make sense if he was out of the Bok fold but he's not. Personally I think he'd be a great asset to the team but circumstances make him a little redundant. He's too good to be a professional bench-warmer. Although HM has employed Lambie in that position in the Bok team...

At least our Lions are good enough to help the other provinces try and win the Super 15....until we are back in 2014

Just need to beat the Bulls by more than 7 points and Bulls not getting a bonus point then they will finish last
