Official Everton supporters thread

Would Everton fans prefer to lose against Man City this weekend thereby denting Liverpool's chances of winning the League?
Or would you prefer to win the match thereby cementing 5th place?

I highly doubt Everton would just throw in the towel to prevent Liverpool from winning the league...

^This. As a Liverpool fan, I was actually hoping Everton finished in the top 4. I love their and coach, and they have really done well this season. I did not expect their slip up last week.

That said, I do not expect them to beat City. Slightly pessimistic but I feel the title race is over. City have the experience to bring it home..

City have nerves and Everton have close to nothing to lose, they may realistically hold City.

City is going to drop points against Aston Villa, but then Liverpool will draw with Newcastle on the final day to ultimately give the title to City on goal diff.

This is what I saw in a vision.

I will commit suicide if that happens

Talk about plastic pool supporters :p Wishing Everton into securing a win - ask any Everton fan if they would mind losing to help Liverpool lose the title and they will jump at the chance :)

Everton had to overcome a late paperwork scare to finalise the signature of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku for a club record fee of £28 million.

Lukaku said: "I am really excited about rejoining Everton. I had a fantastic experience last season and a great relationship with the manager, the chairman, the staff, the players and the fans. I can't wait to get started again and I'm looking forward to a successful season.

Awesome.

Gratz, awesome player.

I especially like his attitude. So may players these days are just content to sit on the bench at a big club, play the odd game and collect a paycheck.

Good on him for going somewhere were he can develope his game.

Yeah, that's not Lukaku's attitude at all. He wanted to be guaranteed a starting spot, which is not possible at Chelsea. It's why he asked to go out on loan last season to begin with.

That he didn't even advise the club he wanted out, again highlights his attitude.

But- that being said, he is moving to a club that he felt happy at, playing for a wonderful coach. I hope that he does well for them, and helps them get into the CL. I think that Martinez and his style of play deserve it.

Would be nice if you can link the quote were the player said that. Thanks.

Have a read here:

José Mourinho says he sold Romelu Lukaku to Everton because he did not believe the striker had the motivation to fight for a place at Chelsea.

Everton completed the club-record signing of the Belgian on Wednesday night, paying a fee of £28m for the 21-year-old who scored 16 goals in 33 appearances on loan at Goodison Park last season.

Lukaku, who has signed a five-year deal, played only 15 times in three years at Stamford Bridge and had not enjoyed the best of relationships with Mourinho, after disagreements over his loan spell last summer and then where his future lay in the long term.

But while Lukaku insisted he had no hard feelings towards his former club – despite not speaking to Mourinho before his exit – the Chelsea manager made plain why he had seen fit to sell a striker who had once been seen as the heir apparent to Didier Drogba when he signed from Anderlecht in 2011.

“Romelu was always clear that in his mentality and his approach he was not highly motivated to come to a competitive situation at Chelsea,” Mourinho said in the Daily Mirror. “He wanted to play for Chelsea, but clearly only as first-choice striker - and at a club of our dimension it’s very difficult to promise a player that status. That reduced immediately his desire to come to us. After that, Everton came with an important offer and because we want to be inside financial fair play rules, you have to analyse these situations.”

Lukaku said he had left Chelsea without speaking to Mourinho. “I spoke with my agent and then from that moment on I left it up to him as I was on holiday,” he said about the move to Everton. I made my decision and then didn’t speak too much about it.”

Asked whether he had spoken to Mourinho before his departure he said: “No – I think he was busy with the game [against Vitesse Arnhem on Wednesday night]. Chelsea is a big club and sometimes it is difficult for young players to come through. I want to have a good career and I didn’t want to spend 10 years on the bench, I wanted to make the best out of every year.

“This is a club with a lot of ambition and it’s the right place to be. You don’t have to have regrets in football. Choices have to be made. Roberto Martínez will be one of the top managers in the world and for me to work under him now is the best thing that could happen for me.”

It's also not the first time he has made it an issue. He went on loan to Everton last season for the same reason.

Only one saying he demanded to be nr one is Mourinho and you'll have to forgive me if I take whatever he says in the media with a truck load of salt.

This doesn't translate to "I demand to be nr and or I leave", simply a guy who wants to play football imo.
