Official Google Nexus 7 Thread

I'd like to know too (in SA that is)

Anyone know when the 2013 Nexus 7 is going to be released?

Depends on your definition of "released".

Officially- never, unless someone like FNB offers them (which they don't plan to, due to the low uptake on the previous model).

Unofficially- it's been out for ages, but only through importers.

Anyone know where I can get the LTE version of the nexus 7 (2013)? I have the wifi only 2012 version and its much better than any other 7 inch tabs... well until the 2013 version came along that is :D

I was looking as well, hoping someone gets it out on contract soon as mine expires in a month. The old 10.1 Samsung Tab is getting long in tooth now and my wife is urging me to get a new one so she can take over the 10.1".

Thanks.

I would say about 7 - 10 times. I answered the questions they asked with each entry.

Well done. I've entered many, many more times than that. Eventually they stop asking questions.

FNB only recently started selling the 2012 model, I believe in July. And it's expensive as **** with them. Just wait until Esquire has the 2013 version

And they have had poor sales of the device, which is why they are not looking at selling the current version.

R149 a month is not totally unreasonable- it is the 32GB 3G model model after all.

So like my Nexus 7 has stopped working....

Haven't been using it much over the last few months so a few days ago I decided to update all the apps, mainly Google stuff, everything updated and the tab cool, battery was low so decided to let out die and then recharge it.

The thing doesn't want to recharge now though and so doesn't turn on either... kind of weird. Luckly it's still under guarantee, will try see if I can get the 2013 version :D

Anyway I have question about this though....
If they take the tab back and replace it, what happens with all my private stuff on it?! Photos, gmail, facebook etc etc....

Kind of worrying...

did you try holding the power button in for 15/30 seconds?

mine sometimes wouldnt power up when I let it die unless I did that...

I regularly have to hold in the power button for 10+ seconds to power it on, whether the battery is flat or not. Just let it charge for a day, then try again by holding the button in like rodga said.

Ok will try tonight, I think the battery is completely dead though. I did leave the recharger in for about 15mins but then I was a bit worried in case something was actually faulty in the tab.

Also tried the different boot combinations with the volume and power but that did nothing as well.

Well of course they had poor sales, they offered a nearly obsolete product, what did they expect?

Edit: In this case the price is not "unreasonable", you're right. But it's still more than what Esquire etc. charged at the time. So how exactly is that a "reduced rate" with no interest?

Totally agree with you, not sure why they offered this so late into its life cycle. And why it would actually make more sense to launch the 2013 model ASAP- people will take it now because it is relevant.

Because you get to pay it off monthly, with zero interest on the device, unlike Esquire or Prophecy or even Wootware. There are a few places that sell the model marginally (+-10%) cheaper, but not everyone has R3500 cash to purchase the device with. It's a good deal, but I'm not saying that it is the greatest though. I feel that it should be made cheaper what with it being the old model and all.

Well, if it works, you know how to break it, and as sure as nuts, the oke in the store won't know how to fix it!
:p

Thanks man, working now. Just followed Google's instructions.

Bye bye 2013 Nexus 7

The thread you posted was quite interesting from the battery point of view. They mention that you shouldn't let your phone or tab completely die because it actually harms the battery....interesting...
