Official Google Nexus 7 Thread

For those interested, look at the official Lollipop wallpapers. They're quite nice.
 
A link would be nice (cos I'm very lazy).
I'm also patient. According to people in the know we should be getting Lollipop on our Nexiiii in a couple of weeks.
First the Wiffies and finally, at the end of November, maybe, perhaps if we are really lucky, the sim-card devices will be updated.
 
Anybody received the update yet? I see it has started to roll out.

Nope ... from the 12th Nov ... apparently there are battery bugs because of wi-fi that must be sorted out first. Under certain circumstances, it drains quite heavily. I have not experienced it on my N5 though

Can anyone point me to where I can get a screen replacement part in Gauteng? 2012 edition
 
Partserve is the official importer of Asus parts in SA I think, but their Sales guy's helpful reply is : Uneconomical
 
You need both the screen and LCD as they are fused together. This is available on Ebay for R500. Shipping is via seamail (and is free) but takes a month. However the problem there is - will out Post Office still be on strike next month? Probably.
If so, you will be like me - I ordered a Nexus 7 2013 from the States in August. On the 21 August it was dispatched Registered mail and was routed through New York (so says USPS). I have not had it delivered so far.

Yep, my 2012 nexus 7 version gyroscope malfunctioned. The wanted to charge about R6000 to get it fixed. Also partserve service was terrible. Won't get Asus products again. At least it was covered under warranty so I got a refund.
 
I'm currently browsing Amazon for the part, hopefully ship it to our London office across the road from Amazon, and have a colleague bring it back to SA
Partserve are moneygrubbers. Charged R600 for a new case for my Transformer TF300TG, it's thin where it meets the keyboard so it cracked there.
Hence why I'm looking for alternatives to their 'service'
 
Does anyone know where the cheapest place to get a 2013 Nexus 7 16gb wifi tablet would be???

Not sure what your budget is but I think Orange have got some good deals.

Orange is 2700 odd, which is decent. I know overseas they've had some crazy deals.. Amazon is 3k incl duties and shipping, was hoping somewhere local would be clearing stock close to R2k... Oh well, I'll keep scouring the web
 
I have the 2012 WiFi (grouper). Flashed AOSP Lollipop last night, a big improvement from Kitkat, much more fluid. Really enjoying the whole material design.

Did you download it somewhere or is was it the official OTA?
 
Thinking of selling my Nexus 7 2013 16 GB Wifi in perfect condition. Any reasonable offers?
