Official Google Nexus 7 Thread

Okay, we are leaving to go on holiday for a week on Friday, so I jam packed my new N7 with apps and games to keep me entertained.
I was a little skeptic with what I could get onto the little 16GB device, but ended up a little surprised. Here is the list of goodies I got onto it and have just under 2GB spare.

Wow, that's quite a list. I currently have 25 apps installed on mine :D

I'll work through your list when I have some time.

I managed to get the $25 credit using the method discussed earlier. I am not able to install the apps I have bought with my nexus 7 on my phone (same Google account).

Is there any workaround for this? Do I need to set up my account on my phone through a US VPN as well to download the apps?

You should be able to install these apps on any device connected to the same account.
Try accessing Google Play on your PC, then choose to install the app on your phone.

There might also be another reason why it won't install on his phone, like incompatibility issues.

Did you do a factory reset? I tried but it keeps saying my CC is not for this region. I have't tried a factory reset though, dunno if this would help.

Did your SA CC work fine?

I don't think a factory set is the issue here. I managed fine without one. It's probably an issue with your card?

The Play Store did not want to present me with the offer at first. I then realized that my Credit Card in Google Checkout had a SA address attached to it, preventing me from using that card. So I just changed the address to the one provided in the article explaining the steps, and it worked.

You should hurry though, I believe the offer is ending soon.

Just tried again, now it's working.

25c sale has now started!

Thanks, I would have missed it if you have not mentioned it.

I read the reviews (from Nexus 7 owners) for the apps I was interested in, and just bought Sudoku, Tasks, OfficeSuite 6, OceanHD, and Granny Smith. Nice deal!

Sounds like that may be the issue. Tried to sign up for another VPN acc, but obviously it picks up your IP address so wont allow me. Tried on my phone and worked up to the sign up to the last point and crashed, when I tried to re do the sign up it wont let me.

Will have to try from another Pc sometime.

Good luck - you have about 4 days left!

Wohooooo got it! :D

For anyone else trying be sure to remove your current credit card, and then remove your google account from the device, then re add it and it will ask you for your card details and bang, works.

Anyone get the below error when trying to buy something:

this payment method cannot be used for this purchase (rbc)

This means that your Google Wallet Home address isn't a US one.
It cannot be changed to a US one now to the best of my knowledge, so I doubt you would be able to use the credit.

As far as I know, once you have the credit, you don't need a CC with a US address. The credit works independently of the CC.

According to that tutorial you can even delete the cc and it will work. :(

It has nothing to do with the CC or the billing address.
If the Home Address on your google Wallet is a South African one, the credit cannot be used.

I have 2 Nexus 7's and got the credit on both.
But the credit on one cannot be used due to that account having an SA billing address which cannot be changed.
There is a long thread on XDA on the topic; read it.

I see, I misread your mention of "Google Wallet" as "Google Checkout". I don't have a Google Wallet account - never had to sign up for one. I guess I will avoid doing so now.

What is the advantage of using Google Wallet in SA?
