Official Google Nexus 7 Thread

Just joined the club! Fantastic device. Huge thanks to Parks82 & Rodga - got 3G connectivity via USB OTG, root + PPP widget. Works with Sierra 307, ZTE MF 190 & E367. Hama USB adapter cable from IC works well.

So 3G via the OTG cable works well?

Yes. See post from Rodga on page 13 in this thread. Just make sure that it is a proper OTG cable. Pins 4 & 5 on the micro USB connector need to be common (shared). Normal USB A has 4 pins and micro USB B has 5, but pin 4 is normally not connected.

See that the Nexus 7 won gadget and tablet of the year from Stuff and T3, definitely going to get one on Monday!

Anyone here tried this? - R25 in appstore

Tablet Talk - install on your Android phone and Tablet - then control SMS and Voice Calls on your tablet via the Wi Fi or Bluetooth connection

This looks like an awesome solution for Wi Fi only tablets
Now if they can only add Whatapp to this - wish

Please could you elaborate as to what this product does? I have read the review on Google Play but, still not sure I understand what it does?

From what I understand, after reading some experiences on the net, this program allows you to answer and start phone calls and SMS messages on your Wi Fi only tablet

It uses your Android cell as a base station and works over Wi Fi and Bluetooth between the two - like a remote of your phone on your tablet

Will have to find the article where someone reviewed it
It was SMS only up to version 1.5.2

Thanks :) Interesting I guess :)

You can always get a remote control app, which basically remote into your phone and allow you to control the screen on your tablet, problem solved.

Something like this :

Just got my early Christmas present of the 32gb 3g version from First Tech. Went to get a microsim from CellC and was asked "Is that the new ipad mini?"

Already rooted and CM10.1 will be loaded tomorrow.

I'm really enjoying CM10.1 on mine :D

Just a note on the Internet access.
I am currently in Germany with my Samsung Galaxy Note and my nexus 7. I bought a Vodafone prepaid sim for 10 euro, converted 5 euro to 300meg data and enabled the tether option on my Note. So now my nexus is the main Internet device with the long battery life and the note is that basically just a hot spot.
Ran the phone from 63% battery to dead after 8 hours. I am still working on the Nexus now after about 13 hours.
Used the Nexus for maps, ingress, mail, gtalk, Gmail and some surfing.
Just as an interesting side note, when you buy a sim card here the plastic "credit card", that the sim is made of, has a cutout for micro sim and normal sims in one. You decide if you want to tear out the small sim or the big sim. So if you tear out the small one you can't use it for a normal size sim, but the other way round can work. Since the micro sim tear out line is still in the normal sim plastic. If you don't understand, I can try and post a picture.
