LOL! No official Gingerbread for the Desire??? LMFAO! How the tables have turned, the X10 will be recieving it next week, im actualy shocked as the X10 was bashed for at 1st not recieving the latest update, by many who used the Desire here, lol, going to be some hilarious excuses being spewd here me thinks. :p

Only by sad sacks who haven't rooted their phones yet. You're giggling about turning tables - most of us aren't even sitting at those tables any more. I'm in a completely different building by now. Sense 3.0 and Gingerbread's running 100s on my Desire, thanks. ;)
 
I'm on cm7.

I see Leedroid asking for the kernel source. So maybe there's hope for desire sense fans.

Anyway I think I'm sense free for life.

htc are screwing us over. but thanks to xda developers we have gingerbread;) with some sense 3.0 parts

Niether. InsertCoin Nightly v45 with CM partition tables and 1gig EXT4 partition on the SD - I'm waiting for them to iron out a few issues with some Sense 3.0 goodies that didn't work that well in the later 3 versions. v45 is pretty much perfect, so I'm in no hurry

okay so v45 you say works 100%..how much ram do you have when you using the phone?im using reflex s and its going down below 100mbs most of the time?

Not something I'm concerned about, to be honest. Looking at my phone now it has 104mb free, but any unused RAM is mostly wasted RAM as far as I'm concerned.

The one thing I can't comment on is any heavy gaming/3D apps - I've got a 360 for that. My gaming on the phone doesn't go much beyond Angry Birds and Stupid Zombies. However, I haven't had a single FC or reboot since loading v45 so I'm more than satisfied.

okay.have you found that with 100mbs or less ram that sometimes apps that shud remain in memory close and when you try to switch back to it?it starts again?and loses what it was doing?im having that issue with opera mobile? i open a page.while its loading i switch to twitter and when i go back to opera it starts fresh and forgets that it was loading the a page?

Only with CoPilot, but although it starts afresh the GPS lock is near-instant and it remembers the route you'd set previously. My multi-tasking habits might be markedly different from yours, though...
 
So it seems like I shall be rooting and flashing my Desire soon since we won't be getting official Gingerbread.
 
NIIIICCCEEEEE, i HATE it when a company promises a feature in one of their products, you buy the product because of the promise and then bam, SORRY we are unable to provide you with this feature, its absolute BS
don’t get me wrong, i LOVE this phone, but i have been waiting for the 2.3 for some time now and this is very disappointing....sigh
So is there anyone in PTA that can help me "root" the phone and load the new sense with gingerbread? (I really don’t mind paying, can anyone please PM me?)
 
And this is why it's so important to shop for an Android phone that can be rooted and used with custom ROMs.

I've been using Android 2.3 on Oxygen for roughly 5 months now. I can't help but laugh at HTC's "we couldn't make it fit" routine. Maybe if they left out some of the Sense bloatware that nobody ever uses (Stocks, Peep, Footprints, obsolete versions of Facebook and various Google apps) they would have more space in the system partition.
