OFFICIAL HTC Desire Thread

I have preset vodafone bookmarks when i clear and recover my desire...could it be that my desire is branded? Ordered it via vodacom direct...
 
Those on MTN who have successfully updated, what version were you running before hand? Mine is on build 1.15.405.4 and I wonder if it doesn't need another upgrade in between?
 
How is it possible that i have a branded and not someone else? This sucks. How can i make sure of this? How can i check my rom?
 
I was waiting for an update from 1.15.405.4(MTN unbranded as far as I know), but decided to try a manual update. Going straight to Froyo gave the status 7 error, so I updated to 1.21 first and then did the froyo update, which all went smoothly :)
 
Where did you get the 1.21 update and do i require root to install the update? Im actually starting to think of rooting becase if i have to wait for vodacom to aprove the update i might reveive it the same time the rest of the world receice gingerbread...
 
This worked for my MTN Desire, from 1.15.405.4, might not work for others!

Got the update here:XDA-Developers . I don't think it would work for your phone, you have a different software number.. Didn't require root for mine, followed these instructions from earlier in the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741518 .

Dude, you have Vodafone bookmarks. What more proof do you want? You'll probably have Vodafone/Vodacom scenes in Sense too.
 
Ah crap. Why would vodacom brand some phones and not all. The life of an unlucky man. Let the rooting begin.

I'm running LeeDrOiD ROM 1.7 now, also based on the official HTC Froyo release. Rooting still kicks the arse of doing what the manufacturer want's you to do... :)
 
Does anyone know how to get reflow mode with the stock PDF reader after the update? It used to be Menu->View->Reformatted, but that does not seem to be an option any more. This is really annoying, since most of the other pdf readers have some or other major issue :(
 
Bah. This sucks!
Last night I tried two different update files to get my vodacom branded desire to update. Both failed validation and wouldn't continue with the installation.
As at this morning I am still checking to see if there is an OTA but it seems unlikely.

Anybody in cpt with a Voda branded desire get the update yet?

Also, do you guys think that this update will come to us sadly branded voda desires anytime soon?
 
Upgraded mine from build 1.15 to 1.21 than to the 2.2 installation file, now it WORKS :D., my phone wouldn't update to 2.2 when i was on build 1.15, it does take a bit of time to install so if your phone pauses @ a screen just give it a bit of time.

How do enable the chrome to phone function on my pc?
 
Once i upgraded to 2.2 my htc sense wasn't working so i cleared the HTC Sense data and now all is working fortunately i had launcher pro installed so it was easy to get to the settings
 
My phone is still not picking up the updates
