OFFICIAL HTC Desire Thread

Come now, please dont be a pessimis! My dear Desire (or Desiré as I call her) will last for the rest of my life. Or atleast till my next Android phone. Cant wait to retire my iPhone back to the docking station where it belongs.

Not meant in a pessimistic tone at all. LEAF have been lambasted for poor service in the past & some current 1st hand experience would be genuinely interesting.

Will keep you posted, was promised that I would recieve Desiré back no later than next week Friday.

I am seriously getting tired of poor service.

Was promised that I would get my Desiré back NO LATER THAN Friday 14 January. Started to phone Monday 17 January when it became apparent that a technician hadnt even touched the phone.

Then I was told I would get my phone today, 20 January. So at 14:00 I phoned and asked if my phone is ready for pick-up. Was told that it is ready I can pick it up. Drove out to Menlyn, stood in that Q, finally got infront, just to hear that the phone is there but still waiting for quality testing. Now I am getting hot under the collar and told the guy that I spoke with one of them who told me I can pick it up. He responded with sum BS explanation that the phone was liquid damage blah blah blah, I told him Listen I KNOW THAT, why tell me that I can get my phone if its not ready?!?!?!

But Ja, I was told it would be ready at about 16:00 - 17:00. This is terrible terrible terrible. If i told one of my clients that the work is done at 14:00 and it is not, I would be in trouble and would need to answer to some one. Why should I be in this posision due to their incompetence? Why should I drive back there again today, pay R8 for parking (twice) just because they are absolutely useless?

OK:

Phoned Vodascum and was told my phone is ready for collection. Went there, stood in the Q, got my phone back, STLL BROKEN. Was told that they could no fix it. This is after they phoned me with a quote and I excepted the quote. Im getting really hot under the collar.

I installed the Cyanogen rom on my phone earlier, it made we realise how crap the sense UI stuff makes our phones. My phone is now blisteringly fast and I dont see the need for Sense UI at all.

If you have the balls, dump the HTC rom now.

the only thing good abt sense is the widgets and the mobile data widget.which sense-less does not have

There are always alternatives, but yeah sense widgets are nice, but its a small price to pay IMO.

does anyone knwo how to connect wireless to a secure conection,. i would like to use my phone to connect to the net when @ work.

Hi, I just have a quick question for you all. Is there any way to make the desire's fm radio better? I'm getting really horrible reception, on all stations, here in pretoria. Seems like you have to be in just the right spot, to get good reception.

Is your phone rooted?

Is your phone rooted?

1. Your phone is clearly not rooted.
2. The two files you mention are not archives. The first is used to check the integrity of your eventual download - google 'md5 checksum' for more info. The second is just a torrent tracking file that tells your client program which bits of the file to download where. Did you actually download the torrent itself?

I suggest you start here, and don't stop reading until you've got a handle on things.
