Mmmmmmmmm... Does sound like poor network reception. Did you just root, or have you installed a custom ROM as well. It might be worth investigating flashing an alternate radio - there's a thread on XDA in the same forum as the rooting guides and ROMs.
 
still waiting for my buddy to download the Leedroid ROM for me...will running without a custom ROM be a problem?
Phone worked fine for a full week...puzzling (going home now to try the sim card trick)
Ended up being my MTN contract - 808 didn't pick up my debit & suspended my service - dumba$$e$...

...and they take SOOOOO LONG to pick up the phone:mad:

Standard micro usb, got mine from sybaritic for R35. Don't see it anymore, usually ~R50

How sad I am at this moment that I have a custom gingerbread ROM running... Went to see Rammstein last night and could only record some of the epic fire shows in SD... :/

Hahahaha. Same here. Flashed Cyanogen Sunday morning.... then didn't know how to change the camera/video quality at U2 last night.

same problem is back...tried SIM swop, it worked - put MTN card back, still no EDGE/HSDPA.
Can't even *141# to check air time, in fact, none of the MTN codes work:confused::confused::confused:

Read up on xda and other forums that it is SP-related...Can someone send me their APN settings for MTN? Wanna check if mine are correct...

HELP!! I have the HTC Desire HD with Android 2.2. Since I have started using it, my voicemail suddenly doesn't work. It is enabled on the MTN side, but the phone just does not forward the call to voicemail if I am busy or unavailable. I've double checked the voicemail number with MTN, spoken to both my service provider and the techie at HTC who refused to put me through to a more senior techie consultant, but no joy.

anyone else have had this problem and found a fix? I'm desperate!!

Once again MTN:mad::mad::mad:
the 2nd time this month that they bar my services:wtf:
I think this warrants a hefty customer complaint...not that I think that it would change things:mad:
 
Hi.... The Apn's name is internet... I'm not having broadband connectivity problems, but still the voice mail problems. Will try and find out - got a friend that's the brand manager for MTN business, maybe she can help. Will let you know if I find a solution.
 
Hey.

My HTC desire HD cannot send mms messages. They always fail. I am assuming that the settings are just not on the phone and vodacoms *111# just doesn't recognize my phone for ota settings.

On further investigation I have discovered that the settings are there but it just isn't working.

I recently got the latest OTA update from Vodacom, and now the battery only lasts 8 hours.
Also, the bluetooth to my JVC car radio has never worked properly. It can connect, but when I drop the connection, the phone freezes or goes into slow motion and needs a reset. Anyone else have this or similar experience?

Now on the following if that helps:
Baseband 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernel 2.6.32.15-gf5a401c
Build 2.29.405.5 CL293415 release-keys
Software 2.29.405.5
Webkit 3.1

And that is why I use CM7 or Oxygen roms. I had massive battery drain on the official 2.1 as well, and Sense is..well...senseless when you battery only lasts half a day. CM7 and Oxygen dont have Sense and as a result are uber fast! Battery lasts more than a day now with WiFi on...
