So I took the plunge and installed CM7. The battery still only lasts about 8 hours and I'm not even using it a lot. Wifi off, BT off, only 3G on. After full charge over night, it was already down to 90% within an hour. I suspect the battery is damaged.

Hey y'all
having problems with Leedroid ROM...copied to SD card, installed ROM (only chose backup option, not full wipe)
Installed...starts up with that Windows DOS screen but if i press trackball, I can't enter setup
Now it just restarts into that DOS screen, then the Leedroid Android mannetjie pops up, then restarts :(

PLEASE HELP! what did I do wrong???

FIXED - didn't do a full wipe...but how can I restore my applications????

You should've made a backup with Titanium. Or at least synched with Appbrain.

The user manual suggests a new battery every year. I'm exactly where you are. I suspect my side of the road car charger and multiple battery calibrations are to blame.

Still makes more sense to buy a new battery then invest in the proprietary car charger. And then you'll have a spare, which is a bonus.

Hey man, I am running CM7 now as well, since last week somewhere. The battery life is still more or less the same as with Oxygen ROM. I turned off auto sync, and turned off the My Location toggle under settings (GPS), made a huge difference! My 3G is on permanently, and I connect to the wireless when I am at work and at my house as well. Depending on how much I chat to my girl on WhatsApp (biggest battery drain EVER!) I should still have around 30% left when I get home at 17:00, the phone being on from 5am when I get up. Thats about 12 hours, which is not bad I think!

I am having trouble with my battery as well, but it just overheats and my phone restarts, but I think its because it was in water twice already... Its minimal so it doesn't bother me that much, I also bought a decent car charger from Expansys, just waiting for that!
 
I must say its one thing I love about CyanogenMod 7 RC2 is that I could actually hunt down what eats up battery life.
Got a HTC Desire (Bought in March 2010)

Battery last about 3 days with normal use, 3g always on with no Wi-fi (ever) and GPS on when needed. Except when playing a game like HAWX or Nova... that makes phone last only 5 hours :)

Biggest drain I found was screen and Wi-Fi. Always look at those 2 things 1st and you will see great improvements:
Dim screen as much as you can and don't use auto setting as it has no idea and even go to full brightness when it feels like it. I found using a widget to control brightness better for this purpose also using dark themes with white text.
As for the wi-fi, manually turn on wi-fi when needed don't ever leave it on searching for signal also I found that the weaker the wi-fi signal the more power it uses as well.

As for task killers I don't use any.
 
managed to re-install every app that I had previous to Leedroid 2.3d ROM flash but can't flash the 'menu button wake-up' nor any of the radio flashes on ROM Manager.
All I get is my Android standing below a 3D triangle with an orange exclamation mark inside (the triangle))....?


How come? I tried cybert's previous instruction on page 117 post #1749 but nothing coming....:confused::confused::confused:

Don't know why that is.

Try to do it manually by booting into recovery (don't use rom manager). Also while in recovery see if toggling signature verification helps.

And don't forget to backup.

How do you do that? Surely thats just another app?
 
Not sure if someone has posted this yet, but for those who have not rooted, HTC said to me on twitter that android 2.3 is currently being tested by the networks and should be released soon... yay

Huston we have a problem....

My desire doesn't like me tonight, keeps on crashing on reboot when trying to install CyanogenMod 7 rc4, Currently on rc2.
My question is there any rc4's out there, if not, what would you recommend for Desire for 2.3.3

I am running RC4 at the moment. Not having any of those problems that you mention. Have you tried downloading the ROM again, and maybe an entire wipe?

Thanks for the update, busy downloading it now via browser, gonna try flashing it manually instead of using rom manager. (Lucky this is my stuff around phone so even if I brick it its fine)

Ok manual install did the trick... must be same issue herb1 had with his leedoid rom ie: rom manager issue

That's cool but does the 2.3 update come with sense 3?
 
Can any 1 here recommend me a rom that is PACKED with a list of features and a very decent theme? I don't care about battery life so much. I just want a decent rom.
