Official HTC One (M8) Thread

HTC SA posted on FB that the local operators will have contracts in July - hoping this will be early July

you guys hear about the M8's plastic brother the E8, similar specs but with a 13 megapixel camera

Pre-ordered with Cellucitt and they are sending updates saying the phones are almost here.... Best communication I've received about the distribution (HTC SA very quiet). Will post any updates...

Does the phone from Orange come with a SD card ?

I'm afraid not. I don't think you'll get one from the cell networks either. The onboard 16 gigs will do the job until you can buy an SD Card. I really suggest going for the highest class you can afford though. Rather sacrifice size over class. I learned that the hard way with an older phone.

I got the SMS today as well :P Quite lame though. It's as if someone at Cellucity read HTC SA's post, then pretty much repeated it in an SMS.

camera? please post a sample pic or two..

I'll take a few pics on my travels tomorrow and post them here tomorrow night.

Have some rather sad news. My One has developed a buzzing noise from the top speaker when playing music with the volume 50% or above. I thought about it for most of yesterday, and did some more tests and lots of googling.

In the end I just mailed the Orange store. They have a 30 day return and swap policy. I'm hoping they pull through.

As it is, the sound quality is better on my S2 because of the irritating noise. Sigh. Much disappoint.

I really suggest that if anyone gets this phone, test the sound straight away!

Hi there, new to this forum - glad to find some like-minded people, my wife tells me I'm the only one..

I am also eagerly awaiting the M8, Cellucity says last week June, but Vodacom themselves have no idea, say it's not showing up on their stock sheet either :(

Let us know what the result is of you Orange claim, have you already sent the fne back? I'm assuming you paid for the postage back to CT?

Many people have the same issue with the original One (M7) as well.

I think my biggest worry is them sending it back because of not being able to replicate. I went out of my way explaining what they can do to replicate the problem though :P

Orange handled everything nicely. Had to fill out and print a few things. DHL is on their way to pick it up tomorrow. It should be back in the UK by Tuesday. If all goes well I'll have a new phone the week after next week.

Now it's just the challenge of finding a nano-SIM to normal SIM converter so I can us 'ol faithful again.

I received the following email from Cellucity today:

The whole 75 minute airtime thing is a bit of a joke, but it seems most of the players are 450 - 500 on the smallest package, although I saw the Z2 included the fitness band and extra 250mb data in one of the packages.

Doesn't matter though - this is the phone to buy - ket's hope Cellucity can stick to this andwe'll all be rocking next week.....

The contracts are rather disappointing. I was hoping there would be good deals that the S5 had, specifically on CellC (with the 1 gig data).

Saying that, when I got my HTC Desire on contract, it was without data :P

Data is really what matters to me. I think I'd rather go with MTN and roll with an Afrihost APN if I had to go the contract route.

Sigh, my M8 is getting picked up by DHL today :'(

Yup don't know why they include such small data packages when the phones can download at LTE speeds???

Update from Cellucity - delay from HTC SA:

We have just received news that the HTC One M8 delivery date has been delayed by our suppliers.
*

Kindly take note that we should be receiving our stock by the 30th of June (latest)
*
We do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

On the HTC Facebook page some people have said they have received theirs from MTN.
