Official HTC One thread

Seems my old M7 is having the purple camera problem, I'm running a fully converted GPE device, firstly what's the warranty situation on it from Vodacom and will I have to restore back to Sense if I send it in?

Restore it back to Sense and send it to Regenersis in Midrand

For all of you who sent your phones in - how did you backup all your data, and how easy was it to reload everything when you got the new phone?

I just copied my whatsapp folder and backed up the contacts. Wanted a clean slate. Re-downloaded all the apps I had when I need them.

Although I have a full copy of the previous phones data on my laptop.

Did you use HTC backup for your contacts?

Went to phonebook menu, then "manage contacts" > "import/export contacts" > "export to phone storage" > selected "phone" account.

I then copied the file (*.vef) to my computer from the old phone. Copied the same file to new phone and then imported it into phonebook. "import/export contacts" > "import from phone storage"

It didn't take as long as it sounds ;)

If customizability is not of concern(ie cpu governors and other tweaks)

, is there any advantage of using a custom rom over stock?
Is there a big enough change in things like battery life to warrant going to something like revolution rom etc

I've never run a custom rom, even an after-market launcher like nova so I wouldn't know.

just set it back to hboot 1.44 on Sense 5, reverted to Lock and S-On. They won't ever know :D

taking it in today hopefully.

All I can say is that converting my device to GPe was a good idea because lollipop is awesome.

I was considering it then I remembered that I would lose my favourite feature extreme power saving mode. I don't think I could live without it especially since I added Whatsapp to the app list using the Sense 6 Toolbox.

Lollipop has power saving built in? Or is this different in implementation?

Completely, the extreme power saving mode shuts off almost everything on the phone and (I assume) under-clocks the hell out of the various chips to such an extent that using my phone only for whatsapp I can get at least 3 days on a single charge. I use it the most when I go on a night out and have already been using the phone all day. That way I always have a working phone in case I desperately need to get hold of someone.

Ah, OK, so a customisable variant. Cool. Is that an Xposed module?

No, it's built in with sense, I just used Sense 6 Toolbox on top of Xposed to add WhatsApp to the app list within the mode (it only has 6, pretty useless apps if you're not rooted and using the toolbox)

Just got my brand new HTC One M7 after sending it in to Regenersis.

Awesome support from them, HTC has just won me over, again.

Did you courier it? How long did the entire process take?
I still want to do it but I don't have another phone with a micro sim...
