Official ICC 2015 CWC thread

Reason why he hasnt score a century in one days since 2013. But when it happens team wins 99 percent of the time. Pure match winner.
I don't know if you rememeber hearing that the former Zimbabwe coach dropped a bowler (Panyangara) for showing his teammates brutal videos of Mitchell Johnson in action ahead of the match.

I think our bowlers won't need any videos to get any mental scars. They'r epissing in their pants already. I genuinely believe mentally we're on the backfoot and it will show in the players' relief if/when Gayle falls cheaply or otherwise. They'll all celbrate like Tahir!!!

I suspect that every other team in the WC will celebrate like that when they get Gayle cheaply

After Roach had a poor first game back from injury, WI selected Benn in the 2nd match, now they've selected Nikita Miller.

All evidence points to a fit&firing Roach being prepared. ODIs is his best format. Gayle&Sammy can more than cover the spin duties.

Looking at how well Taylor&Holder have bowled, we're looking at a mean pace attack. Russell & Sammy have done ok.

So WI will have 4 bowlers capable of hitting 145kph - Roach, Taylor, Holder & Russell, with one who can hit 150kph+ Russell, who's a change/part-time bowler!

I fRussell was in SA, ENG or AUS, I think he would'v ebeen developed to by ar the best cricketer on the planet. Says a lot about WI. They;ve wasted him.

Great innings by Gayle :).

On the bright side, he's got that big innings out of the way already.

Next game he'll fall for single figures guaranteed.
No I think he'll be determined not to fall cheaply. He'll gve himself two overs to have a look like today.

Whatever the pitch conditions, we should bat first. I noticed during their tour here that their heads drop when staring at a huge chase. Then again, we've also been rubbish when staring at a huge chase.

Better them than us, but either way I've amended my pick to 75 runs or 3 wickets win for WI. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the guys pick WI too. :D

He is extremely injury prone, most likely the reason for them "wasting him"

Doubt they could have done any more for him, dodgy knees just dont go away. All they can do is try and manage him to play the big games and try keep him fit for those

We just beat WI 4-1 in the series in SA with similar pitches to the one that will be used on Friday... Even with our dissapointing game on sunday, dont see WI getting close to beating us unless gayle or Samuels has a screamer.

All games were won very comfartably as well.

South Africa vs West Indies, 1st ODI
RSA won by 61 runs (D/L method)

Sun South Africa vs West Indies, 2nd ODI
South Africa won by 148 runs

South Africa vs West Indies, 3rd ODI
South Africa won by 9 wkts

Sun South Africa vs West Indies, 4th ODI
West Indies won by 1 wkt

Wed South Africa vs West Indies, 5th ODI
South Africa won by 131 runs

BD aside, out of all Full memeber WI have played Zimbabwe a lot. I find it surprising that they don't use their intel.

Taylor & Williams are poor against pace. They're busy feeding Samuels&Miller to them - when it's their strong point, hence their eternal presence in the ZIM middle order to deal with Bangladesh spinners.

This is very poor cricket from West Indies, and the exact opposite from Taylor & Williams.

They might be well in by the time the seamers come back on so game on. Elton Chigumbura is due like Chris Gayle. :D

Your'e forgetting the greed aspect. He's strong enough to play all formats but happy to collapse and come right for the IPL etc.

Think SHane Watson. He's also injury prone but tries hard to play all formats. Was the same for Flintoff.

After 25 overs
WI were 107/1
ZIM are 161/4

Matsikenyeri (alongside Taibu) has tamed a strong SA attack comprising Steyn, Tsotsobe, Langeveldt&McLaren, so he should do ok alongside Chigumbura. This could be close, and the Prteas will heave a sigh of relief ... then go on to score another sub 200 score chasing :D

Williams goes :(
177/5

They got the message. Seamers getting Taylor (debatable), now Williams. Chigumbura&Matsikenyeri more comfortable against pace so there's still hope to nurse that NRR, even if a win is looking very much out of the question now.

We've been pathetic. Admit it!

We have but bear in mind India lost to us and draw with England on their way to the championship in 2011.

In 1999 Australia lost to Pakistan and New Zealand in the pool games before going on to hammer Pakistan in the final.

It's not over!! Cometh the hour, cometh the man!

Oh, so the best bowler since sliced bread couldn't make an impact?

Yeah like Steyn was awful when h e started, Tsotsobe can be forgivenearly days don't you think? Even though overall his start was actually great, all the more reaosn why he kept his place in the side. ;)

Boet we may lose to both WI&PAK. I'm actually not laughing because I had a few Randelas down for us to come right. Now I'm panicking.
