We just beat WI 4-1 in the series in SA with similar pitches to the one that will be used on Friday... Even with our dissapointing game on sunday, dont see WI getting close to beating us unless gayle or Samuels has a screamer.

All games were won very comfartably as well.

South Africa vs West Indies, 1st ODI
RSA won by 61 runs (D/L method)

Sun South Africa vs West Indies, 2nd ODI
South Africa won by 148 runs

South Africa vs West Indies, 3rd ODI
South Africa won by 9 wkts

Sun South Africa vs West Indies, 4th ODI
West Indies won by 1 wkt

Wed South Africa vs West Indies, 5th ODI
South Africa won by 131 runs

WC is different, it matters more than a series.
Someone must have spoke to Gayle about the politics surrounding the WI team.
It looked like it worked.

Its not the same WI side that played in SA, mentally speaking.
You would be a fool to think they easy to beat because we just beat them 4-1.

Gayle strikes again. Him&Samuels can more than fill the spinner's duties if 6 or so overs are needed.

WI have 8 genuine options 7 of whom (minus Smith) can send down a full quota of 10 overs and come out better than an Abbott/McLaren. And they still left out Dwayne Bravo & Pollard!!! Not even Australia can match that!

Boet we may lose to both WI&PAK. I'm actually not laughing because I had a few Randelas down for us to come right. Now I'm panicking.

And we may not! There's no guarantee in sport! Would be pretty boring if there were... There's even the possibility that the rest of our pool games could be washed out! Imagine that?

But being a 'the glass is half full kind've guy', I'm predicting our fast bowlers will find form and rhythm, as will our top order batsman. We won't lose again in the pool stages, we will roll England in the Quarters and bomb in the semi's.

BOWLING - I think the more the options the more you can absorb players that are targetted. We've had no option when Morkel&Steyn have fetched, and they are both giving away 120+ runs on average. So I say WI have the edge, paricularly when one of Amla/AB don't fire.

Nothing to pay for now. Maybe get a few runs under the belt not out, but I hate that . He must play his natural game and fall for 30 if he must. I like the Australian approach. No other approach makes sport relevant/exciting.

Yeah like Steyn was awful when h e started, Tsotsobe can be forgivenearly days don't you think? Even though overall his start was actually great, all the more reaosn why he kept his place in the side.

Wasn't aware of that. It's enough to tick off anyone and spur them on though.

Besides the close LBW call, he came close to lobbing a few half hearted drives to fielders in the circle or straight back to the bowler early on. Not a perfect start by any means, but at least he's played himself into form for the next game.

Most of the time Gayle started well against the Proteas, his teammates have failed to build on that. And when he's failed they've sort of come to the party.

I'm not so sure him doing well early against us is a bad thing.

No! QdK, RR, Abbott etc had shocking starts to their LOI careers which absolutely begged for them to be dropped. Those weren't average starts.

Even if they had wickets in hand, ZIM stood no chance.

Steyn didn't have healthy endorsements, wasn't a hero of tens of millions of South Africans, with every celebrity wanting a piece of him every weekend. If he did, he wouldn't have simultaneously reached #1 like Tsotsobe.

Gayle has been out of this world, but spare a thought for Jerome Taylor. He's been brilliant too. 10-0-38-3-3.8! His bowling deserved even better figures. Against any other team on a different day he'd have had a fiver. It's pity the captain didn't make full use of him. Even more impressive considering ZIM got 289.

They a dangerous side. They have bigggg hitters, Sammy and Russel at the end are just as lethal as Gayle and Samuels at the start.
Their batting is stronger based on if they all fire.
Their bowling can be good as it was with Pak, Taylor and Holder bowled very well at the start.

Our strengths will be fielding and slightly better bowling. But the batting alone can take us out and we all know how we react to pressure.
Its not an easy win.

Abbott I agree with you, the other two not.

QDK - 10 fifty + scores (6/4) in his 38 matches, including 3 centuries in a row.
RR - 3 fifty + scores (2/1) in 14 matches.

This is full evidence of why guys are jealous of him.

They never could understand why he could have a Gayle-like lifestyle in Durbs, PE and now Jozi, party hard+live large, and still be able to perform better than them. Like I said important figures, corporates - car dealers&top sports clothing manufacturers indulged him too. His coaches(former players) and team-mates were simply jealous because they never got the same. And he earned it all because wasn't a quota player - world class, arguably best in the world. In fact I wouldn't be surprised that certain fans too are jealous of him judging from some of the comments.
